You’re In Trouble
Whoever called them the “Terrible Twos” doesn’t have a three-year old. I know I have the greatest kids in the world, but they still have their moments. Their moments that beg for discipline. Like when Pea Daddy tells Lulu to get back in bed and go to sleep, and she puts her hands on her hips, looks him straight in the eye and says, “Don’t YOU talk to me that way!” Can you injure yourself seriously from trying to hold a laugh in? ... Chill Out
I’m feeling very zen today. I’ve suppressed my urge to clean up the living room with a Shop Vac, and I’m able to sit with the mess. It could be that today was just a day symbolic of encouraging change through pacifism and tolerance. Even tolerance for completely unnecessary footwear. Oh, believe you me, we’ve kicked off our Sunday shoes. My zen-like state could stem from that I’m still drinking not drinking coffee. I sniff the beans... Read More
Best Friends With Rings
Pea Daddy and I became best friends ten years ago. Seven years ago, we became best friends with rings. Someone had a plan, and as a result, it’s been five years since we became best friends with rings…and kids. Since Gigi came along, we have never spent the night alone in a hotel together. We went on an overnight date once when Gigi was two, but since I was seven months pregnant, technically Lulu was there and I had the bulging belly, hemorrhoids... Read More
Making the Connection
It’s not often I get on a soapbox. It’s not often I even open a soapbox…cleaning isn’t really my thang. But for today, I hope you’ll humor me, because while humor usually is my thang peppered with some recipes, what I want to talk about today just really isn’t funny. You see, last night Pea Daddy and I passed up the Arrested Development and Tosh.0 episodes we had saved on the DVR and watched The Cove. There’s... Read More

The Bright Side
When life hands you lemons… make Lemon Rosemary Roasted Chickpeas! Nothing about the last 24 hours really went as expected. Still, no one wants to hear me whine, so I’m simply going to relate them to you in the most annoyingly positive way possible! I didn’t even need my alarm to wake up Friday morning and was even able to pay a visit to my general practitioner to test out my new health insurance! I was happy to let McDreamy... Read More
Warm and Fuzzy
I’m always reminded of my grandma when the holidays grow closer. She WAS the holidays to me. She would slave away in the kitchen making everyone’s favorite dishes, including creamy, fluffy mashed potatoes with nary a lump. I would make my plate and then get a huge soup bowl just to fill with mashed potatoes. We’d have dessert and instead of going back for a piece of pie, I’d go back for more mashed potatoes. I don’t... Breaking Mom
I’ve decided why I like Twilight: as a mom, I can relate to Edward. He never sleeps, hardly gets to eat and sometimes just wants to bite someone’s head off. Perhaps it was my boasting on Facebook yesterday about how great Lulu’s 2 year checkup went, only to be met with a chorus of kind comments of what a fantastic mom I am. Today, though, I literally felt like my brain was going to implode if I had to spend five more seconds... Read More
Problem Solved
Problem #1: Daddy had a court appearance this morning (he’s a lawyer; he’s not being held in conjunction with a string of liquor store root beer bottling plant robberies), so I had to work out, get Gigi ready for school, get breakfast and be ready to leave by 8:15. Solution: I hit the treadmill at 7:30, was done by 7:55. I scarfed a heated up pear, topped with Kashi Go Lean and Pumpkin Spice granola whilst perfecting Gigi’s flawless... Read More
Heaven and Hell
Today was filled with things not of this Earth. First, I had breakfast with a witch. Yup, Day 3 with the costume, and she had it on at the crack of dawn. I took a second picture and she gave me a look that said, “Oh great, I see we are doing this ‘take pictures of me every five minutes thing’ again.” I had a Honeycrisp apple with cinnamon and pumpkin spice granola on top, and a small pour of Kashi Go Lean underneath. I... Read More
