We still have a few days of our Hawaiian vacation left, but I couldn’t wait to run this giveaway.

Plus, it’s raining.

I missed you.

And if I huddle on the lanai with my tablet and some tin foil hand-crafted into an Easter bonnet, I can pick up the faintest wifi signal known to humankind.

So let’s give you some cool prizes while we can!

The best sandwich I ever ate was a simple BLT. I had been very sick for the past 2 weeks and hadn’t been able to eat much. When I was leaving the hospital, I stopped at the cafeteria and got a sandwich. Like I said, it was a simple BLT but it was the most delicious sandwich I had ever eaten! I guess being food-deprived does that to you haha.

  4. kim says:

I think the best sandwiches are just simple- so I would have to say a good ole PB&J is my all time favorite!!

  5. hands down, the open-faced thanksgiving sandwich at stephanie’s on newbury street in boston (sorry it’s not in maui!). i’m not a huge fan of thanksgiving foods, but weirdly enough, this open faced thanksgiving-on-a-plate is one of the most comforting meals. roasted turkey, stuffing (which i would never eat on thanksgiving), gravy (ditto) and watercress with a side of fresh cranberry sauce and mashed potatoes. DELICIOUS!

  6. Eleah says:

I was in labor with my daughter for 40 hours! Although the pain was agonizing, and the wait was frustrating, the worst part of it all was not being able to eat anything the entire time. Once our 10-day-late little princess graced us with her presence, I was given the go-ahead to order anything I wanted off of the hospital cafeteria menu. Twenty minutes later, my eyes were twinkling at the image of the (second) most beautiful thing I’d seen all day; a giant veggie burger on a whole wheat bun with lettuce, tomato, pickles, red onions and mustard… and a side of fries. I don’t know if it was because I hadn’t eaten anything but ice chips in a traditional American work week, or if this was the one hospital that actually prepared incredible food, but that sandwich was, by far, the best tasting thing I ever ate.

Best sandwich, hmmm: Many years ago, one of the first “natural” restaurants in Chapel Hill, NC, Pyewacket, served a “pizza pocket”–many of us had never seen seen a pita bread before! It had perfectly sauteed green peppers, onions, mushrooms, spinach, blended with a tasty tomato sauce, with some cheese stirred in for gooeyness, then toasted. It was delicious and so novel to many of us southern food eaters! And they were the first in our area to use natural turbinado sugar in the little packs!
