Book #2: Photos + Quotes from YOU
The second annual “Cockamamie Idea to Cook and Take Pictures of Over 20 Recipes in a Week” festivities are underway.
There’s a lot of cooking.
A lot of eating.
A lot of falling asleep at the wheel driving home from the craft store for poster board at 9 p.m.
Dude, I’m tired.
Take what I do in a day and multiply that by three (recipes) and then multiply that by seven (days) and that equals me.
Exactly.
But I am so glad we are doing this. It was really important for me to have Ashley and her amazing photos once again be a part of our book. So I gave a lot of thought to which recipes I wanted to set aside for her to shoot.
And then it hit me.
While the next helping of Peas is made up of around 80 totally new recipes, there are also a handful of favorites, your favorites, that are making the pages. And though there is going to be new content regarding these recipes, including how to use them to make totally new meals, I also wanted the recipes to look different than when you first saw them on this site.
Enter Ashley .
And now, enter you!
Since you all have seen these recipes and many of you have tried them, I’d love to be able to include a quote for each of the recipes from a reader with their thoughts and/or their family’s or friends’ reaction to the recipe.
Are you game?
Today we have:
(and the new Pesto Mmmm Sauce. Seriously, you guys—mmmm.)
and
Yeah, we’re eating good tonight.
So what do you say? Will you be a part of this crazy week, and our next book, and tell me what you thought of these recipes? (And several more as the week continues?)
If so, leave me a comment regarding any of the above recipes that you may have tried.
Meanwhile, I’ve got to rest up for the next round. I’m going to go take a nap.
Facedown in Mmmm Sauce.

Ahhh I remember last year’s week of craziness. So jealous Ashley gets to play with Gigi and Lulu. Love the bottle of hand sanitizer propping up the board
. Sorry I don’t have a quote…next time!
Don’t ask how many of those hand sanitizers jugs we have. You’ve been around little kids–you get it.
why is it the first thing I noticed as well. Bahahaha. They’ll make great nurses
Mmmmmm sauce makes mmmmmmeeee so happy! I love it on everything and anything. And I drool just thinking about it!! Hahhahaa
Can I already pick a quote? I just want the word “mmmmmmmeeee” in the book somewhere.
Hahaha it’s all yours!!
ahhh im so excited for you new book…unfortunately I havent made mmm sauce yet, but its on my to do list for the week!!
Then you are going to have a good week!
I remember when I made the quinoa lasagne while I was a house mom for 20 college-aged kids. They looked at my like I had four heads…”what is that?!?!?!” they’d bark as they looked at the quinoa. The thing is, is it sparked a whole MamaPea revolution in my kitchen with the students. Also for myself. The lasagne is fabulous, it’s healthy and filling. The thing is that you don’t need noodles and meat to get the same taste that you are accustom to. It’s a wonderful way to introduce different ways of eating and vegetables to those who aren’t adventurous in ways that feel and taste familiar.
The MMMsauce is amazing. I made it with tofu, veggies and rice noodles. My meat-eating Aussie boyfriend loved it. If a meat eat can say “MMM” you know you’ve got a winner!
Now those are some quotes! Thanks, Mich!
I have yet to try mmm sauce! I don’t know how I’ve let this happen, I need to fix this situation immediately!
Um…YEAH!
We love the Zucchini Quinoa Lasagna at our house and I almost always have a spare one in the freezer for unexpected dinner guests. Everyone always asks for the recipe! My guilty secret is that (like your blog post said, you could just eat the quinoa mixture straight out of the pan and skip the rest)…I always make 1.5 times the recipe so I can snack on it while the lasagna cooks!
You keep a spare one in the freezer?! That is awesome, even I don’t do that.
I always wanted to try the Zucchini Quinoa Lasagna, and I have no idea while I still have not! :/
But I can’t wait to buy your next book!
Mmm sauce will change your life. It also have the ability to convert anyone to a plant based diet. Smother this stuff on any veggie, or any shoe, and you will have a convert. <3
Love it.
the mmm sauce is seriously amazing. i made it for my meat eating family and they were blown away by it. it was gone in 2 days. the name speaks for itself
The Zucchini Quinoa Lasagna is a favourite at our house. My husband swore he would never like quinoa- until this lasagna came into our lives.
Nacho Mmmm sauce was what I made for my first vegan nachos. It was ammmmmmazing!
Omg. That’s all I can say.
I remember the photo shoot festivies last time around and that Ashley came at the 11th hour, pretty much after everythihng had wrapped, and THEN you decided to have her shoot things.
At least it’s better planned this time around but I know when I cook food, food style it, stage my setup, then actually take the camera out and start shooting, it’s a half day affair..PER recipe. And that’s if the cooking was a fairly minimal thing. If the cooking part was complex, it’s a near day-long task. I can’t even imagine what you’re doing. Everyone I talk to who shoots the food for their books echos the same sentiment though: it’s pure insanity!
Zucchini quinoa lasagna is my go-to recipe when I want to satisfy tastebuds that are new to my table, or jazz things up for those that I usually make a paella for. I don’t let others into the kitchen while making this though, there’d be no filling left for the lasagna!
My whole family loves Mmmm sauce! It is a very versatile recipe that makes everything you put in on or dip in it infinitely better! My kids used to dread our weekly stir fry dinners. Now they just ask “Will it have Mmmm sauce on it?” Now they eat every bite!
Thank you for such a flavorful and easy recipe! I really appreciate all that you do on your site and in your book for us mamas!
p.s- tomorrow is my 11 year old sons birthday and he went through all my cook books and picked out your Sausage and Pepper Penne bake for what he wanted for his special birthday dinner.
Happy birthday to your son! I hope he loves the penne!
Aw, thanks friend.
So glad to be here and join you in the madness! LOVED the quinoa lasagna and obviously I’ve been guzzling the mmmm sauces.
Busy and tired is good! Aren’t you glad you aren’t bored?
LOL, I prop my white backdrop up with anything lying around, too! Right now it’s the box my spiralizer came in and a water bottle.
I need to try Mmmm sauce!! It makes me want to make a gallon of it and go to town on raw veggies.
Sometimes bored is good. But you are right, these are pretty fun stresses to have.
Nacho Mmm Sauce was definitely Aubrey’s favorite of your recipes that he’s tried. I remember I mentioned you were the one who came up with it after he had said he didn’t like the brownies at VegFest and he said “Why didn’t you tell me that? I could have told her how much I loved that instead of telling her I didn’t like her brownies” Truly one of the tastiest recipeas ever.
He can send me a card and tell me. I like roses and chocolates too.
I’ll have to let him know, lol!
Mmm sauce is the best! Whenever we make homemade fries, my parents always ask if I’m going to make mmm sauce too.
I loved the nacho mmm sauce as well–tried it with your succotash quesadillas. My sister had the leftover sauce with tortilla chips!
Mmmm sauce with French fries? That is GENIUS!
I licked the lid of my food processor when I made the Peanut Mmmm sauce. Fortunately I regained my sanity when I pulled the blade out dripping with sauce. That is some seriously amazing stuff. Congratulations on the new book! I am looking forward to adding it to my collection. Have a fun week!!
Thank you! And be careful licking that blade!
It’s good stuff but not blade licking good.
i try to help out with the cooking on the weekends when I’m home. my parents and sister all looked at me like i was crazy when i said i was making zucchini quinoa lasagna in my attempt to get the family to eat less meat. one bite and they all had to eat vegan crow at how good this was! its also a great thing to prep on a sunday and bake the next workday. its become a regular favorite in our house! i’ve also brought this to pot luck dinners and get so many compliments. i happily pass on your recipe yet people still want me to make it for them instead. but thats ok, they think i’m a culinary genius but its a really simple recipe to follow!
Ooo, that pesto mmm sauce sounds good!
I make the better bay biscuits as often as I can. They’re addictive, and half the times I’ve made them, I actually failed at eating the rest of my meal because I just want to fill up on them! I made two batches for Christmas Eve with the family, too. I’m so excited the recipe is being included!
I forgot how good the biscuits are. The girls were running into that same “filling up early” problem.
I love the zucchini quinoa lasagne! It feels as decadent and satisfying as traditional lasagne but it’s completely vegan, gluten-free, and much lighter. My boyfriend and I loved this recipe, and I can’t wait to make it again when zucchini is in season.
The Nacho MMMMMmmmm Sauce and Zucchini Quinoa Lasagna have been weekly staples in our house since the summer of 2011.
We use the sauce for everything and of course, say “mmmmmm!” with every bite!
Weekly?! That’s awesome.
I tell my husband and 3 daughters everyday that I love them more than peanut butter….that means an immeasurable amount, because peanut butter is my blood type….or shall I say WAS my blood type. Now I say “I love you more than peanut mmmmm sauce”. This sauce is delicious beyond words and, as you can see, essential for my survival…because it is just my “type”! I put that s*it on everything!
Zucchini Quinoa Lasagna – AMAZING! One would think nothing could compare to the original meaty/cheesy lasagna we were used to, but WOW! Our family, that includes 2 preschool aged kiddos, all LOVE this lasagna! It has become a new family favourite.
Now that is an endorsement!
mmmm sauce is my new favorite “dressing”! I just made it for the first time the other night and one batch has already lasted me as a “cheese”‘ sauce to my homemade pizza, and the other as a topping to my quick-fix lunch of leftover rice and veggies. I can’t wait to see what comes of my next use of mmm sauce. Come to think of it, with the exception of my morning oats, there’s probably not too much I wouldn’t drizzle this stuff over!
Zucchini Quinoa Lasagna is to die for! So hearty and super nutritious. One of my favourites!
Woohoo for more Ashley time!
The zucchini Quinoa Lasagna was first posted right before my friend who is gluten free was coming to visit. The lasagna was hearty, filling and delicious. It satisfied all of us the vegetarian, the omnivores and the gluten free. I’ve actually made it a few times since.
I literally bit the side of my mouth 3 times the first time I had Mmm sauce. I only do that when something is so good that I must eat it as quickly as possible, thus, biting the side of my mouth and then doubling over in pain. Only it wasn’t as bad while eating Mmm Sauce b/c I had the Mmmm Sauce to soothe me.
Ha ha ha. Sorry to laugh at your pain.
I’m making the Zucchini Quinoa Lasagna for dinner Friday night. I’ll let you know how it turns out – I can’t wait to try it!!!!!
Ooh, please do report back!
so glad y’all are hanging out and i know you’re having a blast!
as for the better bay biscuits? I couldn’t wait for them to come out of the oven and burned my mouth on the first one, but they’re so addictive I couldn’t stop!
Mmmmmm Sauce is a favorite around our house. It’s a meal that makes its way onto our meal plan often. We have recently been making it as a cold pasta salad and packing it for lunches, picnics and field trips.
The Mmmm sauce is so good that the first time I made it for a recipe it disappeared before I could use it. My family found it in the fridge and used it for tortilla chips and sandwich spread. I recommend doubling (or tripling) the recipe for all the yummy ways you can use this sauce!
I’m pretty sure Mmmm Sauce is my favourite recipe on Peas and Thank You! I used to smother everything in salsa because it was my favourite condiment of choice, but then Mmmm Sauce came to town…. and now it’s a different story.
I recently tried the original “Mmmm sauce” after I received a Vitamix for Christmas. All I can say is WOW! I made the sauce, set it in front of my husband with veggies to dip (he LOVES veggies, seriously!!). I told him it was a new recipe that I had wanted to try and needed his opinion.
He took one bite and was like, “mmmm, that’s really good! What is it called?”
“Mmmm sauce,” I said.
“No, I know it’s, good, but what is the real name?” He asked again.
“It’s mmmm sauce!!!”
The name fits the sauce
.
So fun that Ashley is there! I predict a very good weekend in the Pea house!
Ahhhhh, looks like fun! To be honest, I haven’t tried mmmm sauce because I am a weirdo with textures…. I can’t do “creamy” sauces, etc. for the most part… but you can quote me as saying that I love you.
Mmmmmmmmmmmm. Better yet, quote that.
Can’t wait for the new book!!
The first time I made Mmmm sauce I told my daughter to taste it. She stuck her in finger in and said “Mmmmmmmm!” Anyone that makes this sauce knows how the name came to be!! We use it on everything!!
No recipe comments. Book #2-if you talk about dietitians, could you not use a “c”? I love that you didn’t say nutritionist, but I still hate that “c”! (I know, things that I need to get over-ha!)
Shouldn’t be a problem–I never use that word!
Love this idea!
Mmm sauce – This sauce lives up to its name! There are no boundaries for its uses- great with a fresh veggie salad, cooked veggies served Thai style, dressing on a burger, the sky is the limit!
Forget that canned soup, this is Mmmm Mmmm good!
I made Mmm sauce for my meat loving family (which includes 2 young boys) with baked tofu, sauteed veggies, and brown rice, and we fought over the remaining sauce. It’s also delicious in wraps with leftover veggies!
The Quinoa Lasagna has been a favorite at our house! We were always big fans of lasagna anyway, and transitioning to this healthier version has been a no-brainer!
The Zucchini Quinoa Lasagna was my first foray into vegan cooking and also my introduction to quinoa. Wow! This easy, delicious recipe totally transformed my kitchen. We no longer eat pasta or rice, typically substituting quinoa instead. I was lucky to try this meal first, because it turned my husband into a willing participant in our semi-vegan household! Thanks, Mama Pea.
Thank you, Brandi. I’m so glad you guys love it.
hummmmm!!!
Mmmm Sauce is a staple in my fridge. You can use it on anything: veggies, grains, salads, black bean burgers; just don’t pour it over cereal (I may or may not have tried that!)
The zucchini quinoa lasagna is awesome! The zucchini is perfect with the creamy tomato quinoa and it’s a great base recipe to add in other veggies. I love the comment above on how one of your readers keeps one in the freezer. I’m going to have to start doing that!
In other news, one of my friends texted me a couple days ago and said that she was going to try veganism for the month of February and she wants me to show her some recipes. Your website is first on my list. I have never been disappointed with a peasandthankyou recipe and I like that most of the recipes are adaptations/inspirations from mainstream recipes. That makes it easier for non-vegans…as I’m sure you know
Mmmm Sauce. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that this recipe has changed my life! I love it so much that I, with no shame or guilt, always swipe the remains from the serving dish with my finger. Everyone I’ve ever made it for feels compelled to do the same. Viva la Mmmm Sauce!
I cannot wait for pesto version. Although, it’s likely my head will explode. So excited for this new cookbook!!
I made the Zucchini Quinoa Lasagna and absolutely loved it. It was so creamy and filling; my husband didn’t miss the meat or noodles. I will definitely be making this recipe again.
I made the Peanut Mmm Sauce and served it over noodles w/ stir fried vegetables. It was so easy to make and so delicious. It made for a great weeknight meal.
I haven’t tried the biscuits yet, but anything with ‘bay’ in the name has to be good.
I am so looking forward to your next book!
Gotta love that Ashley
The pictures look beautiful!
Also – pesto mmm sauce?!?! YUM.
Mmmm Sauce makes my life better. I make a double batch and freeze it in ice cube trays so I always have some on hand. Knowing that some of that creamy goodness awaits me at dinnertime brings a smile to my face throughout the whole day!
Ice cube trays are such a good idea!
What a great idea!!
The Peanut Mmmm Sauce is a mother’s dream as it is the perfect way to hide a vegetable and add some protein. No picky child can resist!
I cannnnnot wait for pesto mmm sauce.
I literally lick the blades of my blender after making your peanut mmm sauce. I can’t stand to waste a single drop.
I wish you were here. You’d be totally saucified.
My beverage of choice: Mmmm Sauce.
How’s that for a quote?
I like it!
Very cool to include your fans
You are the best!
My daughter, one of the pickiest eaters in the world, loves your Peanut Mmmm Sauce – that says a lot about Mamma Pea’s recipes. Me, well, I knew I would like it, but had no idea I would want to actually DRINK it right out of the serving dish!
~Rebecca
I’ve done it.
The only recipe I’ve tried so far from that list is the Peanut Mmm Sauce. I modified it quite a bit but I thought it was delicious! I also like it as a salad dressing.
I’m really excited about your next book. I know both yours (seriously, your photography is really good!) and Ashley’s photos will be beautiful. I love cookbooks with lots of pictures and I’m so happy that’s how you do yours. Can’t wait!
Thank you. Ashley’s photos ARE fantastic.
The Zucchini Quinoa Lasagna is the first recipe I ever tried from your blog. I am not a vegetarian but do love vegetables but was always a little intimidated by some of your recipes. However, I am so glad I got over that and made this lasagna. Wow. It really made me and my husband believers that you don’t need meat to have a delicious and hearty dinner. I just had to post pictures of the finished product on facebook and had a ton of requests for the recipe!
That’s awesome! Thanks for spreading the love!
I would LOVE to be a part of your new book! Best of all I made the lasagna recipe as soon as you posted it soo..
Who said lasagna had to have meat and noodles in it? Not Mama Pea! This is by far the best lasagna I have ever tasted. Best of all this recipe freezes well so you can have leftovers for a meal some other day. Well, if there are still leftovers!
~Kinsey
YES! Thank you!
Please don’t revoke my Pea Fan Club Membership card but I STILL haven’t tried Mmmmm Sauce (hitting my hand on my forehead). I HAVE made the lasagna, however. I am not sure this is quotable but in the interest of participation and support, here you go:
This is the creamiest, most delicious lasagna. The zucchini is a perfect sub for traditional noodles and the addition of a tablespoon of cream “cheese” to the quinoa adds a richness to the dish that takes it over the top.
I’m not speaking to you.
Sorry…its too early for me to think of a witty quote…but I am SO excited to see you are including the Quinoa Lasagna, especially since in an email to you a few days ago I said I hoped you put it in the 2nd book.
I have made it for dinner guests with the strawberry chickpea mango salad (in book 1) and it is a meal I feel proud to present to company…they are always super impressed and although I would like to pretend I am the genius behind the recipe, I always give a little speech on how you are a genius and how much I love you for it.
Oh man, you are too kind. Thank you!
oh…p.s. I am going to weight watchers meetings to lose the weight I gained with my newest little babe…who happens to still be sleeping…for 11 hours, 45 min so far! He is 3 mos!!! TMI, but my boobs are going to explode.
Anyways, they said something about quinoa at a meeting and asked if anyone has any good recipes with quinoa in it and I shared your Zucchini Quinoa Lasagna…
I REALLY appreciate that you put the nutritional information in with the recipes in the book….this is so helpful for me when I am trying to calculate points for Weight Watchers…I am looking forward to seeing the breakdown for this recipe so I can be more accurate with how many points it is.
I will take your extra boobage please. And yes, there will be lots of nutrition info in the second book as well!
Yum…I love mmm sauce and the lasagna!
The lasagna is so full of deliciousness that all 3 of my boys, my husband and 2 sons, gobbled it up!
Mmmmm sauce was one of the first recipes we tried when we decided to go vegan a few months ago and I’ve made it more than anything else. We use it mixed with some balsamic vinegar over salad, drizzle it over cooked or raw vegetables, use it as a spread on sandwiches, add it to grains and pasta or anytime we want a pop of flavor. It’s easy as can be to whip up and everyone loves it.
Great quote, thank you!
I really like the behind-the-scenes look you are giving us of shooting photos for the new book. We always get to see the finished product, but it’s fascinating (to me at least) to see what it takes to make a pretty food picture. You and Ashley are quite the team! Can I request an overhead shot though? I always love that view when watching the NFL, and eating Nacho Mmmm sauce with a soft pretzel. Much love coming to you from Denver! -Mark
You are TOO funny–Pea D and I were just talking about Superbowl food this morning…and soft pretzels with Nacho Mmmm Sauce came up! I’m going to do a Superbowl menu plan and include those on it, so thanks for backing me up. Much love back to you!
I’ve made Mmmmm Sauce many times and still love it as much as the first! I’ve been wanting to try your other versions for a while… must get on that. Once I made a ‘build your own goddess bowl’ dinner for some friends… let’s just say it was a big hit. Can we say licking the bowl clean ?? I even had copies of your recipe all ready and printed out and so glad I did. Everyone wanted the recipe. …and then they wanted to know who Mamma Pea was.
I want to build my own Goddess bowl–great idea!
Well Sarah, you know my favorite comment already, but let’s apply it to either the zucchini quinoa lasagna or the mmmmmm sauce. “Stupid Good”.
I still have yet to try the original Mmmm Sauce (I know, I know…), but my family’s reaction upon trying the peanut version was pretty much hilarious. “Oh, my God. Ohhhh, my God.” “I could drink this with a straw.” “Can we have this for dinner every night?” (And because I never commented on that recipe, consider this a belated thanks! It has, in fact, been added to our rotation. I bow at your feet, MP.)
Oh get up! And give me a hug. A peanut Mmmm sauce covered hug
That zucchini-quinoa lasagna was the best lasagna (thing) I’ve ever had. Nobody talked, we just ate and ate and ate. So easy, so impressive and most importantly, so DELICIOUS.
Oh the Zucchini Quinoa Lasagna is definitely one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. We make it regularly at our house, and even my meat-loving husband enjoys it! We’ve made it for company multiple times and it’s always a big hit. Incredibly easy and delicious!
Thanks, Sarah.
I adore your Mmmm Sauce. No fridge should be without it. I use it on steamed or braised vegetables, in wraps, as a dip. One night when I wanted to use up a couple of leeks and about half a green cabbage, I braised the vegetables and, when they were soft, stirred in some Mmmm Sauce. It is remarkable with yummy sweet leeks.
I LOVE your Peanut Mmmm Sauce!! I wrote a whole blog post about it here: http://www.theweekdayvegan.com/?p=349
One of my roommates loves your Mmmm Sauce so much that I have caught her drinking it from the container many, many times. Yep. Mmmm is right.
Oh man, that’s rough about the roommate thing
Oops, should have clarified… she makes it herself and drinks it out of her container. Not mine. Ha.
Phew!
Love this idea, Sarah!! Truth be told, I haven’t made Mmmm sauce yet. But my sister did – the Nacho one. Said it was amzing over spaghetti squash and spinach!
Oh my gosh, I have all those things. I think you just planned dinner for me. Thanks
I am so looking forward to your next book. Family friendly and vegan is hard to come by. Just wanted to say thank you for doing what you are doing. You really are making dinner time so much easier these days;) I get rave reviews from the entire family when I use your recipes. In fact we had a rough day yesterday and Lu Lu’s Mac and Cheese saved the day–easy, delicious comfort food:)
Thank you!
Thank you, Jennifer! Hope today was better
i was doing a vegan challenge over my husband’s birthday a year or two ago, but still wanted to cook him a delicious meal. i made a pasta dish (using one of your recipes) and the better bay biscuits. i didn’t go on about the fact that they were vegan, and after going on about what a great meal it was, my husband put two and two together and realized it was all vegan. he was shocked & quite impressed, so thank you!
That’s so great! Thanks for sharing!
I think one of my favorite food pics is my Elsie (then 18mos) daintily dipping her broiled tofu into Mmmm sauce. It can be a challenge to get fresh healthy food into my 3 kids (not to mention myself and my hubby) but the option of yummy dipping can make it a whole lot easier. We love Mmmm sauce!
That’s one of my favorite pics too
I made the Zucchini Quinoa Lasagna this past summer with zucchini from our garden. It was great! My husband who is neither vegan nor vegetarian ate seconds and thirds. I love your stories and your recipes
The Mmmmm Sauce is ammmmazing! Sorry, it’s late over here…brain’s already asleep
Can’t believe I missed the Quinoa Lasagna recipea…must make it asap!
I know you two (four including your girls) will get a lot of work done but I hope you’re having ons of fun too!!!
Mmm sauce is totally mmm! It’s healthy, inexpensive, and totally doable for a non-chef like me!
Alright Mama, I actually made Zucchini Lasagna recipe for about six to eight weeks in a row this summer. I wore my family out on it…but thankfully after a two week hiatis they were back to begging for the lasagna. I make it for us and bring the leftovers to my work to share with my non-vegan co-workers. I’ve actually won over a few people on it, and I’ve explained what quinoa is way too many times. Call it an unhealthy obsession? No. The lasagna is very good for you.
I saw on Twitter that Ashley shot some pics for you yesterday; so glad to have a behind-the-scenes peek here! And that pesto mmm sauce – amazing! Cannot WAIT to try that one!
I think Ashley may give you a sneak peek again soon!
Just the other evening my guy (who is not vegan but he lives with me so by default he mostly eats like one), said out loud while tasting his Mmmm Sauce for seasoning, “Mmmmm Sauce is one of the those things that having tasted it once, it’s hard to imagine life without it.”
We love Mmmm Sauce and have shared the love with many people. I’m yet to find a person who doesn’t want to drink it straight out of the jug!
Your guy sounds like a keeper!
Mmmm Sauce – Making day before grocery shopping meals more interesting since 2011!
I’m so glad it will be available in book form. The printout on my fridge is looking very sorry for itself these days!
I love that: “day before grocery shopping meals!”
I went a little crazy the first time I made Nacho Mmmm sauce (ok, ok, I do every time), like a 2 year old with unsupervised access to the cookie dough bowl. I hopped up and down, twirled around in my kitchen and unashamedly double dipped all of my fingers. Thank you, Mama Pea….this recipe is inspired.
Mmm sauce. What more is there to say that mmm doesn’t cover? Hehe
We eat this sauce on everything. It even passed the put-it-on-the-table-next-to-the-celery-filled-with-cream-cheese-dips-and-fool-your-family-into-choosing-no-cream-cheese-at-thanksgiving test which was awesome.
The Zucchini Quinoa Lasagna is fantastic! I must admit, I was a little skeptical at first, but it was hearty and comforting, just like lasagna should be!
Amazing. I just had to give up wheat, as many other do, to try to get my health back. I cannot wait to try the quinoa, zucchini pasta!
I think this is kind of funny.
I eat mostly vegetarian, my hubby does only because that’s what were havin’ for dinner.
So, I tried the Tofu Dippers with Mmm sauce. When my hubby saw what we were having for dinner, I thought he was going to cry until he tasted it. He ate every bite, then said that was really good… if it was chicken it would be awesome! He did have seconds. So did I. It was delicious! Thanks for sharing with us.
I have to laugh when you say you thought he was going to cry. Dude takes dinner seriously.
the peanut mmmm sauce is incredible! it’s unlike any peanut sauce I’ve ever had before. in a really good way. i’ve tried over rice + veggies, as a salad dressing, and by the spoonful. literally! next time I’m just going to cut to the chase, pour a glass, and drink it!
The zucchini quinoa lasagna was the first P & TY recipe I ever made. I went veggie while my hubby was still a meat eater. I remember my husband saying “I can’t believe how good this is and it doesn’t even have meat!”. He was floored when I told him it was VEGAN.
.
Side note, I’ve now been vegetarian for about 16 months. Hubby is now officially one month into vegetarianism! No arm twisting. No discussion. Totally his decision. Thank you!!!!
Okay, so the Mmmm sauce is definitely amazing. Quote from my brother: “Holy moly, this sauce is delicious. More Mmmm please.” And that’s pretty much the same quote I’ve heard from everyone that’s tried it. I can’t wait to try the pesto Mmmm sauce!
The Zucchini Quinoa Lasagna is probably my *most* favorite lasagna I’ve ever had. I am a lasagna girl all the way!
When I first made it for my (meat-eating) parents I was nervous that my dad was not going to like it. Dad loved it. In fact, anyone that we have ever made it for really is amazed that it tastes so good. I love when they try to say “Keen-what? What is that?”
Ha ha! Keen-what?!
I am obsessed with any and all Mmmm Sauces! And I am always looking for better ways to cook with quinoa AND zuchinni! Now, THAT is what I’d call a lil’ “wink” from life. LOVE LOVE LOVE the first book and cannot wait to get the second. Well done, Mama Pea.
Peanut Mmmm Sauce is my go-to Sauce: for friends participating in a healthy eating challenge: “Make This Sauce!” For the friend who was diagnosed with dairy and gluten intolerance: “Make This Sauce!” And for myself, when during a busy week when I want comfort food (and want to risk cutting my mouth licking my blender): I Make This Sauce!
(There’s my quote, and as a sidenote, Quinoa Tabbouleh and Pesto Mmmm sauce sound UH-mazing. I will absolutely buy the second book for those two recipes alone!)
ok – well – I just made the ‘mmmmm peanut sauce’ with a stir fry a little different from yours, because I didn’t have the exact ingredients – and my dh deemed it ‘totally delicious’ – i’m a vegetarian and he’s not, so it’s hard to come up with something veggie that he actually loves.
‘totally delicious’ – I’d say it was a total success! I loved it, too – yes, Sarah, it was hard NOT to drink it!!!
Nacho mmmm sauce is mine and my husband’s absolute favorite. I made it, feeling skeptical of what he would think, and all he said was “mmmmmmmm”. The flavor is spicy yet savory. We love it with the succotash quesadillas and use the leftovers on salads.
Nice! We had Nacho Mmmm salads tonight, in fact!
I absolutely love the quinoa lasagne! Now, I don’t like regular lasagne (meat, veggie, whatever, I think it’s gross), so, I’m not sure how my love of it should influence others…
The mmmm sauce tastes amazing and is great on practically everything. It has a nice curry flavor that I absolutely love. I couldn’t stop saying mmmm after every bite!
Ok my thoughts round two:
Tamale pie: This was the first Peas and Thank You recipe I made for the whole family (which includes two very picky boys), and they loved it! They didn’t even notice or mind the tempeh.
Chickpea tacos: Though I am the only vegetarian in the family, after making these once for everybody they became the norm! Now it goes without saying that if we’re having tacos, they’re Mama Pea’s Chickpea Tacos because everyone, kids included, prefers them to ground beef. They’re quick and easy, too! So much better than store-bought taco seasoning.
Pumpkin cinnamon rolls: My family devoured them. My little brothers said they were better than Cinnabon. So doughy and delicious.
Almost chipotle guac: This recipe got me to stop overpaying for Whole Foods’ prepared gaucamole. So easy and so much better than store bought.
I love love the quinoa lasagne! I tried it after I saw it Vegetarian Times and very soon after purchased your awesome book. I must thank you for making me smile daily. Your blog and cookbook never fail to make me smile and even help me feel sane! Back to the lasagne–I loved the picture in vegetarian times, just because that’s how it looks at my house, half eaten just 5 minutes after you get it out of the oven! I have made this for all my houseguests almost all who are omnivores as well as one vegetarian baby. Everyone loves this and asks me for the recipe. This is definitely one recipe that will satisfy all your guests.
“I made Mmmm sauce for my friend for Christmas. She loved it. If you are giving a gift with beans and nutritional yeast and they love it, you know you’ve got a winner… and a winner of a friend!”
Ha ha…that is quite the testimony!
