Who are those people on that beach in Maui?
You, girly, with your long hair, your perky…smile and your uncompromised uterus.
Quit looking at my uterus.
You, young man, with your shoulders yet to have given a piggy back ride, your eyes sparkling from uninterrupted sleep and your…Tommy Bahama shirt.
Oh.
I guess that is us.
My how eight years have aged us.
We’ve become grownups. (shhh…don’t argue with me.)
We’ve become parents.
And, though I didn’t think it possible, we’ve become even better friends.
I’m off to spend a week in Maui with my best friend, celebrating our eight years of marriage. It’s a first, because we haven’t had more than one night away from our girls in eight years.
I also haven’t taken more than a day or two off from blogging in three years.
And so, for the most part, I’ll be completely unplugged for the week, though I have some “Best Of” posts planned to go up with some of my favorite Peas and Thank You moments.
In the meantime, I’ll be making more memories. Relaxing. Rejuvenating.
Maybe when I get back, you won’t even recognize me. Or my uterus.

Congrats and happy anniversary! 13 years ago today my husband and I “officially” started dating. We’ve been married nearly 9 years. We’ve yet to take a trip JUST the two of us since our honeymoon! We’ve already got plans in the works for the 10th anniversary, though!

You both look as great now as you did then! Everyone will miss your posts, surely, but I’m glad to hear you’re unplugging for the week– you really can’t kick back and unwind with all kinds of electronic bings and buzzes nagging at you constantly. Hope you enjoy the vacation to the absolute fullest!
Where in Maui are you staying? It’s like my second home there– well, the west coast is, that is. If you’re in Lahaina/ Kannapali area be sure to go to Choice Health Bar (they have a FB page, too!). You’ll LOVE it there. All vegan and a lot of raw food as well. Pricey, yes, but worth every dime considering the amazing fresh food they have.
Other good places….. Farmer’s Market, Pali’s Mexican, Mana Foods, Whole Foods (!!!). But definitely be sure to pay a visit to Choice Health Bar. Trust me.

My Husband and I are also going to Maui in two weeks.. First time being back since vegan, so I did a little research and there seems to be plenty of options! Really looking forward to the vegan ice cream stand. I hope you post all your meals so we can go to the same places

First time commenter, got your book over Christmas and I have already made about 10 recipes….that’s saying a lot with a 7 month old! My husband and I LOVE Maui! We found a wonderful little organic market in Paia that we bought avocadoes the size of my head and everything we could possibly need to cook up some vegan meals. The produce there was priced much better than the WF there, who had jacked up there prices 2x the mainland costs. Also, a fantastic organic pizza place in Paia where we got a cheese free vegetarian pizza that was AMAZING! Highly recommend it. You can’t miss it since Paia isn’t that big and it’s on the main strip. have a wonderful time, sounds like it’s much deserved! Happy Anniversary and God bless!

i went to hawaii when i was 13 with my cousin + parents. we were on some bus, and the tour guy asked if anyone knew the longest named fish, then he would give us a million dollars. Answer: Humuhumunukunukuapua’a – and i always remembered that and can still pronounce it! hahah. eats lots of pineapple and papaya for me

I always love when you make the Tommy Bahama jokes. I also would love to see both of us in that store when both of our husband’s are in there. For me, it’s a lot of “ugh” and eye rolling, “are we done yet?” and “no…that is absolutely hideous” talk going down…if you know what I mean!
