Pea Sighting: AM Northwest Meatless Meals Segment (VIDEO)
I’d consider our first TV appearance a success.
Sure, I had to do it barefoot so they could keep my head in the shot.
Sure, “Dave,” that I’ve been practicing talking to at stoplights all week, turned out to be Helen.
Sure, I caught Helen looking at Lulu in the audience right when Lulu had her right index finger up her left nostril all the way up to the second knuckle.
Sure, my dad may have been innocently flirting with a Rodeo Princess or two in the live audience.
But it was an absolute blast, and everyone at AM Northwest, from producer to intern was fantastic to work with.
I can’t wait to do it again.
(video below)
A big thanks to all of you for all of your messages of support. We love you!
(I predict a dough ball giveaway coming up to show you how much…)
It turns out, I don’t have wait long to do it again. I’ll be appearing again on AM Northwest on August 12th at 9:00 a.m.
The producers said how sorry they were they couldn’t fill all the ticket requests for today’s show, so if you want to come (and I definitely want you to!), email KATU now at amnw@katu.com and let them know you’re with me. We’ll hook you up!
But just one small request, could someone please bring a box of Kleenex for Lulu?
***********

I just wanted to say congrats on the continued success, and feeling a bit like I am in high school…YEAH I am the first one to comment on this post (kind of like the first one to sign the yearbook crack, did that ever happen to you?).
Anyway if there is a dough ball give away I want to put my name in the hat.
Thanks Rachel! I’ll make sure you don’t miss the giveaway
You were made for TV, my friend! Very welcoming and your passion was evident. Loved this!
Thank you, Courtney. I was made for being a mama. TV was just a perk today.
weeeee! I am contacting Right Now for tickets… I’m sorry I couldn’t be there this morning, but I watched and you were GREAT. I had the show on to the end and saw one of the girls standing up and waving (facing away from the camera, but still – SO cute!
Congrats on your first, so awesome you’re going again! (I haven’t watched that show much lately, but they are MUCH nicer than when I used to go on… I was SCARED of that Jim Bosley guy…
YESSSSS! If you come, I will make sure you get samples of whatever we end up making. And hugs. And I’m told an autographed copy of the book!!!
How could you not love The Boz???
done!! can I sit up front with The Peas?
I’ve already emailed, if that doesn’t work I’ll sleep out all night.
do you remember that guy? he was kinda cranky!!
Of course I remember him! Yeah, I think he would have intimidated me.
yep, intimidating was the word I was first going to use!
did you ever see the Phil Hartman as Ronald Reagan skit on SNL? where he’s having to talk all nice and be friendly to the girl scout, then as soon as he’s back in the office with his people he’s all “BACK TO WORK” and “this is the part of the job I hate”…
that was the Boz. scary off camera, a complete 360 on!!
Aww, Phil Hartman. RIP. I’m going to have to check You Tube for that skit. I’m also going to google and see what the Boz is up to know and hope that it’s not reading food blogs.
I know, RIP Phil Hartman. He was my favorite, as is this skit:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skQuhoG7fFM
and I honestly thought of that, didn’t want to make waves, but I think if Boz read this he’d be happy knowing people were intimidated!
(feel free to edit out names to protect … you!)
Ha ha ha. That was awesome. And there’s a better chance of me kissing Pea Kitty on the lips than Boz reading this blog.
Who do I contact to push for a Peas and Thank You cooking show?
Tell me who too! (thanks, Gina)
SECONDED!
Thanks, Lynn.
YES!
I can not be the first to comment!!!! How lucky! What a great job you did. I hope you get LOTS more air time. The burgers look great but it looked like it was the brownie that won Helen
Now, lets toss it over to Dave (’bout time he showed up
Yeah, Dave…you slacker!
He came and ate everything afterward. Thanks for the love, even if you weren’t first
Okay, I wasn’t first after all… sad face…
You did an awesome job! Thanks for posting this so all of us non-locals can watch it.
Thanks, Em. Wish you were local, though.
Oh man. You are a natural. For real. You are going places. I hope you have to come to Salt Lake City for something…
Side note, YOUR BICEPS. Hard work pays off. Too bad they didn’t want you to do an episode of “Shirtless Meatless Meals” so you could flash your abs.
Ha ha ha ha. Shirtless! Now that would be something. Of course, you would notice the biceps. Takes one buff girl to know one!
I was going to say the same thing. If I had your arms, I would never wear sleeves. Instead, I just never wear makeup or a bra. Wait…that’s for different reasons entirely.
Second, you should replace that host. You rocked, and she kept reminding me of someone either in a “Saturday Night Live” skit or something on “The Soup” (and not something good, like Joel.)
Helen was actually super sweet and she and I talked all about “The Bachelorette” when the camera was off. If we had talked about it on air, it would have been JUST LIKE The Soup. Only no Joel.
Thanks for the compliments. Gigi hates pants, I hate sleeves.
lol, now that would be a funny segment on The Soup
Again, you did awesome! So natural
You’re adorable! I loved watching that
C*O*N*G*R*A*T*U*L*A*T*I*O*N*S*!!
I can’t wait to buy the book!
Thanks, Autumn. I am so impressed you put all those asterisks in there. Big hug to you for that!
I’m making these tonight for dinner!! Awesome job on the show too, it was great to watch!
You were great MamaPea! I do the same practicing banter thing before job interviews. So dorky I know but I can’t help it, I get so nervous and think that laughing and talking to myself in the car beforehand will somehow prevent that person from seeing that my hands are shaking. Can’t wait until my book comes:)
Thanks, Rachel! And the car is the best spot for practicing–the other drivers are like the audience!
Spread the good word of nutrition. We need all the help that we can get!
You were fantastic! Now, I just need to finally try some of that “cheesy stuff”
And lick your fingers
Ah, so fun– super excited for you and your future!
PS, you’re a total natural on camera!
Sooooo nice Mama Pea, you are a natural!!! You are lovely, and I also love that cheesy stuff!
Ana
You were amazing! I wish she didn’t keep saying how hard it was to mash though, because that’s sending a signal that it’s not simple when it really is!
I agree! I didn’t do the food prep, so I’m not sure how cooked the potatoes were, but they seemed fine to me. I should have told her she could use a masher or a food processor to make the job easier! Oh well, hindsight is 20/20. (and so am I–whoo hoo!)
You did SUCH a great job!
Thank you, Erica!
aww its perfect! you did a fabulous job girl! congrats! <3
Thank you, Miss Peas and Crayons
So fantastic! I kept rewinding to hear what you said about the popcorn to make her laugh so hard but I couldn’t hear it. It was after the wiping the finger part.
Is it weird that I got extra excited to see your family in the audience? At least I didn’t point at my computer screen and say “All the Peas are on TV!!” (I didn’t really do that, but it felt like I coulda)
PS. I’ve lost 1.8 lbs in the last two weeks WHILE EATING DOUBLE CHOCOLATE, SINGLE CHIN BROWNIES!!! If that ain’t an infomercial, I don’t know what is.
Congratulations!
YESSS! (on the 1.8 lbs, though I don’t think you had a pound to lose…)
Do you feel a little taken advantage of that I was practicing the brownies on you? I hope not. I’d like to “use” you more often
I am more than happy to be your brownie guinea pig! (Sounds like animal testing, but it’s not)
YEA!!! So fun, congrats!
Thank you, thank you!
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!! You rocked it out of the park sister! Congratulations!! I emailed katu, I hope I get tickets for the repeat performance! Heart you!!!
Ha ha ha ha ha! You are cracking me up. I hope you get to come too. I just love you, Kel.
Well done MP, oh and let’s get the important stuff outta the way–love the pink nails!
Thanks! We’ll see if that shellac lasts until the next appearance
man I wish I lived there I’d love to go!
yummy dough balls my girls say I must enter so they can have some!
We got our tea set yesterday (thank you!). The girls keep begging to do it!
great job mama pea!
Mama Pea that was awesome! You look like you’ve done cooking segments thousands of times- a true natural!
I have! They’ve just all been in my car
Amazing job – you look like a pro!! Vegan cooking show perhaps?
Way to go Mama Pea! I’m sure the family was so proud.
Thanks! Gigi came up and gave me a high five after the segment.
That was the best cooking segment I’ve ever seen! I can’t wait to try the recipe too!
Wow, that’s high praise! Do you own a TV?
Ok,ok, so I am slightly biased because I love your blog so much, but really, it was just so natural and you didn’t seem rushed at all. It really was awesome!!!
Can’t wait to see you again in August!
Thank you, Deanna. Marry me.
Absolutely loved it! And you’ve got serious arms going on there girl!
Wanna arm wrestle?
AWESOME job! You seriously rocked it!
I got all excited when I first saw the video thinking that younhad made my favorite white bean guacamole!
We were going to make that one (and it is in the book) but I didn’t want to overkill with the beans. You know, make everyone think that vegans constantly have gas.
Oh, good idea! I’m going to have to send my cookbook to you so you can sign it right on that page! haha! I made the Tempeh stir-fry yesterday and we all loved it! I am doing the burgers right now! For a family that is not vegan we sure are eating like we are!
Now THAT is music to my ears!
You were amazing! You were charming and funny and I loved the whole thing. I’ve already pre-ordered the book and now I am even more excited to get it! Congrats!
Thanks, Jen. I’m excited for you to get it too!
You’re such a star! You have your next appearance…already BOOKED! Congrats!!!!
And I love the video.
This has got to just be the coolest stuff for you..I mean, not that motherhood isn’t wonderful, but after years of changing diapers and cleaning up cheerios, being able to be BACK in full swing, with adults, doing super cool stuff like this…it’s gotta be a great feeling. Basically being able to have BOTH worlds…motherhood and everything else…way to make it happen, Sarah
Actually, you are right. Not just to be back in full swing, but to be back in full swing doing something I love and am passionate about. I never felt that way about arguing why Joe Shmoe should have his child support reduced. Thanks for the love as always, Averie.
Wow Sarah, you did an amazing job!!! Thanks so much for sharing
Can’t wait for you cookbook!!!!!!
You were awesome! Thanks for posting so we could all see! How impressive are you that they had a sold out crowd and asked for an encore?!! You’re a rock star of meatless meals!
Ha ha. I think there were 15 people in the audience
Congrats! What a wonderful accomplishment!!!!
You are such a pro. I can’t wait to make these burgers, and I really can’t wait for the Peas and Thank You cooking show!
That would be AMAZING.
Congratulations, you did a great job. I really liked listening to you, and it also makes me miss my local Salem news.
You are from Salem?
Yes I grew up there and graduated from Sprague a few years ago. My family’s still there. I love when I hear about local news (like the Trader Joe’s opening) on your blog, it’s like visiting home for a couple minutes.
I graduated from Sprague! So did my brothers. You may know my younger brother. I think he was class of 2002.
I’m so dang proud of you. The whole pea clan. You’ve put blood, sweat, tears and countless sleepless nights into this. I am just beaming for you. We’re all here singing your praises!
M
Thanks, Mich. I always now I can count on you for love and support. <3
Mama!! You are such a natural! I can’t wait to see you on TV everyday in the future. You’re hilarious, by the way. Congrats.
Thanks, Allie. Every day? That’s a tall order. I’ll have to put my wedges back on.
So amazing!! You were absolutely great on the show..you should have a cooking show all of your own in fact! I would watch it over Rachel Ray any day!
Ha ha, thanks! You are sweet. I promise I wouldn’t use acronyms. Just lots of pea puns.
Yay! That was really good. I’m excited to make that “ceviche.” I don’t eat seafood, so this looks a winner for me!
Besides the brownies, I think that’s what the hosts loved most. They kept asking what was in it!
One word: AWESOME!!
Okay, maybe two: CONGRATS!!!
Two words: thank you!
Your hair looks awesome! Congrats, what an exciting accomplishment!
Thanks! I have my Chi to thank. There was one in the green room too! I squealed when I saw my little friend.
Rock on, girlfriend! You did great! Congratulations! The best I ever did on Portland TV was Ramblin’ Rod! You’ve probably done that too since it was virtually a right of passage for Oregon kids!
Oh yes! I was a smile contest finalist. But I lost
Did you forget to bring him a pin? He could have been biased…
I brought HIM a pin, and then I wore a matching one. I thought that meant something to him. Obviously I was wrong.
Great Job!! Its funny to hear your voice after reading your blog for so many months!!!!
Question.. what is the name of the fingernail polish you are wearing?!
Thx!
I was just telling Pea Daddy it must be strange for you guys to see me “in person.” The polish is CND Shellac–Hot Chile. Ole!
YAY! You are so cute and did so well!!! You’re a Pro!!!!!
Those burgs look phenomenal! Tomorrow’s dinner is set!
Your nails looks gorgeous!
Love the flash to the other Peas!
Congrats!
Kere
That’s a lot of exclamation points!!!
Thanks so much, Kere.
I meant, Your nails looked gorgeous!
Aww, you got a manicure. How cute! The show is great. You look and sound amazing. Great job!
I’m cracking up with that “Awww, you got a manicure.” It’s darn close to “Thank the LORD you got a manicure, woman!”
From a fellow mother of two, it was more like, ” I’m so jealous you got a manicure out of the deal!!!”
It cost me. An hour in a salon with a three year-old. Nuff said.
Awesome! You were great! Funny, entertaining, knowledgable! Next up, a show on Food Network!
I wish, Molly! Thanks
I watched your segment. You did great! You looked so relaxed. I’m so glad they showed Pea Dady, GiGi and LuLu in the audience. Luckily the camera wasn’t on LuLu while she was fishing! Can’t wait to watch again in August! And I can’t wait to try your recipe. And I can’t wait till your book comes out! I’ve preordered. Have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks, Anne! Yeah, I think that digging cost Lulu her own appearance. Thanks for the preorder. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too!
Ohhhhhhhhh why does it have to be August 12th? I’m taking August 19th off (to take care of last minute things for my WEDDING the following day!), and as much as I’d love love love to be there on the 12th, there’s no way I can take two Fridays off in a row! So sorry Mama
move it to the 19th and I could definitely make a pit stop
haha
Enough of that, you were GREAT today! I was so impressed with how you presented yourself, how encouraging you were with Helen, and of course your unmistakeable wit. Congrats on a great show!
Oh wow, congrats on your upcoming wedding! I hope everything is going smoothly in your planning and that your wedding falls on one of the 12 sunny days in Oregon
Thanks for the love. Helen was just being way too hard on herself. Or I should have used a masher. Oh well!
We live in SW Washington, but the weather’s all the same. He’s from southern California and he’s wanted an outdoor wedding since he was a little girl, so I agreed but even after four years of living here I’m not sure he realizes how unpredictable the weather can be… At this point, I’m nervous it’s either going to rain or be way too hot, but whatever happens we’ll make it work!
Salem’s only an hour from us, we both love it and we contemplated moving there when he was done with school. He’s actually having his bachelor party in Salem!
Since he was a little girl?!? Ha ha ha! Praying for sunshine for you!!!
I am so so so happy for you that all went well! Although I had no doubts that it would. I am sure HELEN enjoyed all of your nutritional yeast facts and anecdotes that you had prepared! And as for Lulu, there is a very short window of time where it’s still understandable to pick your nose, don’t rob her of her simple childhood pleasures to early. (;
True, but I’m not sharing popcorn, or any finger food, with her any time soon.
haha, yeah that is most likely a good idea…
I can’t believe you live in Salem! I know that you resided in Oregon but I didn’t realize the same city as me
Really? Hello, Salemite! Say hi if you see us around town
Forget the white bean burgers. I want your arms.
I’m so flattered. Thank you!
Oh my gosh, I totally loved watching this!! You did such an awesome job. And not to mention, your hilarious personality totally shined through, just like it does here on your blog
When is the Food Network going to add a Vegetarian cooking show????
I totally emailed them a few minutes ago to see if I need to buy tickets, or whatnot, for the segment in August!!!! I’m up here in Seattle, but Portland isn’t too far of a drive and I’d LOVE to come watch! Sounds like so much fun!!!
Thanks, Anna! I’ll probably be doing some media in Seattle soon too, so I’ll let you know if it’s something you could come out for. Have a great weekend!
maybe you can drive me Anna. we can swap favorite pea jokes on the way down. i’m in seattle too.
I was at the American Library Association meeting today, and as I walked by the Harlequin booth, saw your book teaser. I may or may not have scared the rep when I talked (gushed? effused? ranted?) about how much I love your blog and how excited I am for the book to come out.
Thanks, Jen! I’m so honored that you did that. They weren’t scared…they love hearing support for their authors! Hope you had fun at the expo!
Your girls must be so proud!
You’re a natural! I wish I could have been there, but I’ve emailed about the August taping, so hopefully!
Fingers crossed! It’d be awesome to see you again. I think I’ve improved since the last demo you saw
great job! you’re a natural
i made the burgers for dinner. they were SO good! it’s blows my simple mind how you can just throw together these filling and delicious meals. i’ve really started getting more into vegan cooking since finding your blog…and i’m so happy i did! you’ve got real talent, sista’!
Congratulations! You did an awesome job
P.S Thank you for explaining nutritional yeast! I have it on my grocery list for this weekend to make your Mmm sauce and didn’t have a clue what to expect!
I wouldn’t taste it by itself. I made the mistake of doing that the first time I tried it. Just use it in a recipe (Mmmm sauce would be perfect) and see what you think!
Umm… So, you can cook. You can write. You can make people laugh. You’re a natural on TV. You’re a fabulous mother. And, you are gorgeous and toned. Basically, you rock!
Oh my gosh. You are too much. Thank you!
Yay! Congrats on an amazing segment! You’re a natural And nice mani
Ha ha, thanks, N.
Sarah, that was so much fun seeing you (and the pea family) on tv- thanks for sharing the link! It’s been great seeing how you have developed as a blogger since I’ve been reading. Keep up the amazing work!
You’re definitely meant to be on tv! Congrats on the great segment!!
I just am in love with you and your camera presence MP! You’re just so fun to watch and it feels like I’m talkin’ to a celebrity hehee. Well, you kind of are now!
It was funny seeing the girls on camera. Lulu looks so dazed haha!
Ha ha, not hardly a celebrity! But thank you
Lulu was TIRED. Up too late and up too early. Those girls are troopers!
oh btw! like others said, Nice guns, woman!!
What are your go-to arm exercises?
Thanks! I love working out my arms. Arms and abs are my favorite. I do lots of bicep curls, hammer curls, concentration curls, push-ups and tricep dips! I hate lunges and squats, for the record.
Love the video, awesome job! I am so excited for the book to come out. I need to make those burgers very soon, I’ve been drooling over the pictures for too long.
I really want to come see you live but I don’t know if I can handle driving down there at 5am…even if I do get a single chin brownie. You do hand those out to audience members, right???
Those burgers look so good! Thanks for saying we can use chickpeas as we have a white bean allergy in the family.
Good job! You were perky! How many cups of coffee did it take?
Ha ha, you caught me. I had ONE cup this morning in my hotel room
It was my first in about six months. I had a green juice afterwards to counter it!
heck I would have had one too if I had to do a morning show!
And I had to take a melatonin to go to sleep. I’m in a dangerous cycle of herbal uppers and downers.
Love it! You’re a natural in front of the camera, Mama Pea. Now I see where your girls get their skills for Wacky Wednesday videos.
Can dried basil be subbed for fresh basil in the burgers?
Hmm, you could try it. I would use at least half the amount…even 2 T. seems like a lot.
Woop Woop! Congrats!! LOVE IT!
Thanks, Sissy. Can’t you come out in August? I’m sure they’ll want to speak to the photographer of some of the book’s lovely photos!
Great job! You were wonderful!
Congratulations! You were awesome!
I am beyond excited for you! You deserve this more than than any1! Congratulations MP and Peas!
You guys rock… You know this though!
Thanks, buddy.
My Word! You did an amazing job! You are so sweet, and personable, and funny, and real! You had Helen cracking up!! Really great job! I wish you all the continued success! And those burgers looked so good!! I cannot wait for your cookbook!
Thanks, Hannah. I don’t think Helen knew what hit her. Kapow! Brownie up in yo grill!
Congratulations! Amazing video, you’re a natural on camera. (Love the sound of that bean burger recipe as well – looking forward to the book coming out!)
Thanks, LB. You are always so loyal in your support. I appreciate you!
Why are you not on the Next Food Network star??? They need some Peas!
Do you think there’d be room for both Giada’s head AND mine?
I belive this is for you:
http://my.foodnetwork.com/food-network-star-casting-call/editupload.esi
Oh man, I’d have to make an audition video? I need a video editor to piece together the AM Northwest video and the Oreo Slide video, don’t you think?
Throw in a dough ball or two and you’d have it in the bag.
Now you’re thinking…
Great job! Thanks for sharing with us East Coasters!
Brownies at 9a? You are my hero
What an amazing opportunity! This is something that I dream of too…only i’m far too shy for the TV lol
Congratulations Mama Pea!
You’d be surprised what you can do if you are given the opportunity!
You are SUCH a natural! And you’re funny in person, too, awesome!
Congrats to you!
Now if I ever meet you in person (aren’t you coming to Vida Vegan Con???), I’ll have to work really hard not to disappoint you
Yes! I will be there! I’m laughing already!
I’m so happy for you! You did a great job. So exciting to see you on TV! Congratulations!!!
You belong on the Food Network!!! Love it!
I’ve been watching Food Network Star, so I’ve got a bit of an itch actually…
what a great video!!! and i don’t want to be right either, off to find a brownie
You are a pro! You did great and you are so witty!
I also wanted to say that I made your cherry protein bars a few weeks ago for our trip to Smoky Mtns National Park and they were great and gave us a boost of energy for our hikes!
I think I saw your Tweet about those. So glad you enjoyed them! I wish I could go hiking. That now required carrying another little person, which totally takes the fun out of it.
Yay Mama! You were great!
That was so cool to watch. It feels like ‘I knew her when’ and yet I only ready your blog haha! You looked so comfortable. I would have been a nervous wreck. That was such a fun perfect segment and now I REALLY want one of those burgers.
As strange as it sounds, I feel like I know you all too. I’m not leaving you guys, so you will always know me
You looked so awesome!!! Congrats!! I really enjoyed watching!
Wonderful tv spot. America needs a weekly 30 minute show featuring your recipes, your kids, DaddyPea & your blog. Love your passion!
How cool would that be?! Thank you.http://peasandthankyou.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.php#
This is SOO great! Congratulations!!
OMG! You have to do more videos! What a great episode, you are a natural in front of the camera. I have never made any of your ‘patty’ recipes and watching this video made me realize that is won’t be that time consuming. And my son (age 3.5 and a green smoothie lover, thanks to you) was SO into it! “I want to make those!” “I want that chocolate!” Double chocolate, single chin=hilarious!
Congrats!
Thanks, Trina! I hope to do some more appearances and I’ll post all of them. I’m glad your son is a fan! I’m just finishing a green smoothie right now, so tell him Mama Pea says, “Cheers!”
You look so beautiful (with some awesome definition in those arms!)! Well done!
I’ve got to chime in with my congratulations and compliments as well. You did so well and didn’t seem nervous on tv at all. What an incredible step this is — it goes to show we just never know where life will lead.
Absolutely, Michele! I never would have dreamed I’d be doing this. So blessed and so grateful for all of you. Thank you for the support!
This is so fun! You are stunning and you are so comfortable in front of the camera. I think you should be the next food network star. Just sayin’.
You did great!! You were a natural on camera! I can’t wait to make the burgers for my husband!
Thats so cool! Well done! You are such a natural on tv!! It must have been all those test runs with ‘Dave’! ;D Congratulations!!
I made your brownies last night – they were fabulous! Very chocolatey and moist. I’m bringing them to a fancy picnic tonight – if there are any left by then…
Awesome! So glad you like them, Christine!
You are amazing !!! So wonderful on your first TV appearance and so relaxed!! Watch out Giada, Pea Mama is coming at ya! Congrats on all your successes!!
Thanks, Jill! (I love Giada)
I don’t know you but I still welled up watching your video!! I guess it is just knowing that you are a mom who works hard at home keeping her family fed. It is tough making so much from scratch and yet you have made yourself a name and it is just so super exciting! Congrats to you!!
Shorty
How sweet! I am just so passionate about helping people realize they deserve to eat better. Thank you for supporting me!
Can you tell us more about the yeast?
At first I thought you were being snarky because I talked about the yeast so much
What would you like to know?
Excellent!! You are perfect for TV. Food Network needs to swoop you up!
I totally willing to be swooped!
You are so awesome!!!! You are great in front of the camera.
The salad you mentioned looks interesting… is the recipe on your blog?
Yup, the link is at the bottom of the post: vegan ceviche!
Oops… I guess I missed that part.. haha sorry
So cute Mama Pea! I think she really liked those brownies! My house agrees. You did great! Funny you were barefoot.
And the sad thing is, I bought new shoes
There is nothing sad about new shoes. Nothing.
Amen.
You did great!!!!!
p.s. I made the tempeh tamale pie last night – WOWWWWW fantastic!!!! (and yes, it absolutely deserves those extra Ws)
Yay! I’ll take all the “w”s I can get!
Congrats Mama pea on your tv appearance. You were absolutely fantastic!
Congrats! Great job on your TV appearance. You were so calm, cool, and collected. Bravo!
Congrats! You did so great! You look like you’ve been doing this forever.
I loved when they shot to the family…they are so proud.
How awesome that you get to do another one too!
They are so proud…and now pretending to be talk show hosts every day.
Thanks, Ang.
hehe I bet they are
Your stop lights will never be the same!
The Cheesy Stuff. Yes, much better than “nutritional yeast”. Loved the video – you were so comfortable in front of the camera. Must have been all that rehearsing with Dave.
Thanks, HEAB. <3
Mama Pea, you were fabulous! I don’t know how you can act so relaxed and funny in front of a camera. I would be all tongue-tied. I can’t wait for the FoodNetwork deal to come, through.
You guys are too much! Thanks!
Congratulations Mama Pea! You are a natural! I can’t wait to get the book
Congratulations Mama Pea!
As someone else said, although I don’t actually “know” you, it’s like seeing someone you know on tv! So cool! Also, it’s a good thing you practiced those burgers so much – I’ve gone from thinking they looked like something I’d never dream of eating (I’m sorry), to now planning on trying them out pronto! So thank-you for the convincing!
I also, a question for you – and any rother readers who happen to read this! I live in Canada, and am making a trip across the border tomorrow for a concert… and planning a stop at Trader Joes – first time ever!! I did see your post a week ago about your shopping list, but am wondering if you/anyone have any other recommendations of must-haves/your favourite products?! Any would be very much appreciated
Thank-you!
Thanks! Most of my TJ’s recs are in that post (http://peasandthankyou.com/2011/06/16/big-day/), although just this week I found bagged kale! You might check the comments section of that post for other readers’ ideas. There were a lot of great suggestions. Happy shopping!
Mama Pea-I’m a little late to this party, but you were amazing! You should be the national spokesperson for Veganism. I think I am going to borrow your entire menu and make it for the family for the fourth of July. It looks incredible. Can’t wait to see your next tv segment and I hope that they make you a regular!
Thank you, Wendy! I hope your family enjoys the spread
This is so awesome Sarah! You’re such a natural!
You were awesome!! I can’t wait for the cookbook. Those burgers are definitely going on the menu plan this week. I love that you can grill them. Thanks again for your awesome, tasty food!
I hope you enjoy them!
That was great! You looked so natural and relaxed. Can’t wait for the book to come out
Thanks, Laura. One month from today!!!
I am finally getting caught up on blogs and was thrilled to see this! You were wonderful! And, I’m with you, brownies are right for anytime!
Loved it! Congratulations, Sarah!
Mama Pea,
I hardly ever comment because I never know what to say– because I always say it out loud to the boyfriend “OMG, watch this video” “Wow, look at the food!” “Let’s cook this!”. I just have to say you are very inspiring and motivational in your approach to veganism. I love that you do home-cooked meals and that you let readers/viewers (now!) know what certain things are.
Thanks so much from Wisconsin! Gonna have to try out those burgers! (Do you think that regular potatoes would be fine?)

Julie, I can’t tell you how nice it was to read your comment! I really do hope to show people that a veggie lifestyle isn’t this scary, granola, unattainable thing.
Regular potatoes should work fine, I’d just peel them first. Or else baby reds would also be nice.
Awwww, how awesome! And I just watched your “trailer” as well – so cute! Congratulations Sarah =)
Thanks, Michelle!!!
You did such a great job!!! You seemed so natural on tv.
Congratulations!
Congrats…..the “burgers’ look SOOO good!
Oh my gosh – you are going to be a TV star. You were so at ease – maybe even more so than the host. Fabulous job. Congrats.
Thank you! Let’s just say I’m a good actress. I may have been freaking out inside just a tiny bit.
I love it. AHHHH I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOU SARAH!!!!!
When I bring baked goods to work, I offer them one by one to people who I know will only have one before I put them in the breakroom because I know once they are out, certain people will hoard them and take a bunch…
I feel really, really guilty admitting it but it’s not fair to take 5 cookies when not everyone got the chance to have one…
I actually think that’s pretty sweet of you!
Thank you so much for the gluten-free recipe! I really appreciate the information you included such as what the heck xanthan gum is. I have been working on going gluten-free for a year now and this is the first time anyone has explained that. Thanks, and please, more gluten-free recipes! Gloria
We are taking our children to Disney World in September and they have no idea. I can’t wait to see their little faces when we get there!
I loved the shot of Pea Daddy and the girls – they looked so proud!
You did amazing and your arms look ripped!
Ha ha, thanks! Wanna arm wrestle?
Love love love your blog. Made the burgers last night- delicious- thank you! My secret? Well… My dear friend is moving and I am cooking up a large treat basket for their long road trip- including home made treats for their dogs. And… I have a great veggie ‘beef’ stroganoff recipe I would be happy to share with you if still seeking
I am still seeking!
Ok- here it is. I am sure you can make it better, but my meat eating friends have all given this a thumbs up.
Veggie balls:
1.5 tsp EnerG egg replacer mixed with 2 tbsp water
1/3 cup bread crumbs
1tbsp worchestire sauce
1.5 bags Quorn crumbles
Mix all together and brown in pan over medium heat
Sauce:
1 tbsp canola oil or butter
1/2 pound mixed mushrooms sliced
2 tbsp flour
1 tsp ketchup
14 oz veggie broth
1/2 tsp onion powder
3-4 tsp onion flakes
Pepper to taste
Sauté mushrooms in oil until soft, then add flour and stir until mixed in well. Add ketchup, broth and onion flakes and powder. Simmer together for 2 minutes. Add veggie balls
Thanks! I just wish the Quorn crumbles were vegan. (they have egg whites) But I’m sure I could sub tempeh!
CAN I SAY YOU ROCKED IT ON FRIDAY!! I’m so proud of you and excited for all the amazing things you are being blessed with!
Hugs!
Thanks, Tammy. And to think, it seems like yesterday you and I were slaving away at CH.
First, your daughter is adorable. Second, those look amazing.
You did awesome.. Now i feel the need to go home and make these..!
Accidentally hit submit before I was finished typing :-/ anyway, can serve over rice, noodles or quinoa. Can also top with fat free Greek yogurt or vegan substitute. Hope you like it!
My youngest daughter thinks hummus is cheese. I go with it.
Git it, girl! You’re clearly a natural. In my dreams, you are the Joel McHale of the blogworld and have a regular show where you comment out loud on the latest posts full of malarkey whilst continual sexy shots of dough balls are projected on the green screen behind you, interspersed with the occasional photo of Ryan Reynolds. Or Pea Daddy, if he ever does end up doing that calendar.
That would be, in a word: AWESOME.
Oh my God, you act like you were born infront of a camera! Congratulations. You are super funny and a natural. Hey, all the best. Looks like Peas are set to FLY!
Ha ha, born in front of the camera! Like my mom was on one of those Discovery Health shows? She’d never be up for the vajayjay on TV. And now I’m talking about my mom’s vajayjay. Not cool. But your sweet compliments are. So thank you!
You are truly made for TV! Well done,.
I hope your book will be on sale in England too…….so excited!
Thank you, Suzanne! We are working on the international rights now. I hope it will be sold there too!
Momma Pea!
You look gorgeous and ripped! As always, I am sending you a big CONGRATULATIONS! You are phenomenal!!!
XOXOX
Your ’3rd’ daughter lol
Barbara
ps
I love the numerous close-ups of your superbly manicured hand with your HUGE gigantic diamond ring!! You should to do hand modeling as well.
Congratulations again! You are amazing and I am so happy for you and your beautiful family!
Ha ha ha, you crack me up Barbara Pea! Thanks for all of the love!
Very awesome – congrats on your first tv appearance! And I’m sure the next one will be as amazing, especially since it’s on my birthday
Should I give you an on-air birthday shout out?
