Familiar Face

Once upon a time, we were getting ready for a busy Saturday full of errands.  Toenails needed painted.  Meal plans needed written.  Groceries needed stocked,  Bags still needed packed.

All of a sudden, Gigi shouted, “Mom!  Lulu broke your Tinkerbell!!!”

Sure enough, Tink’s leg had been swiftly severed.  I thought maybe she’d gotten caught in a tragic bookcase climbing accident and had self-amputated her limb to get free, but when I saw Lulu’s face, I knew she was responsible.

When I asked her who did this to Tink, she said, “Mr. Slushie!!!”

And though I was a little sad about my figurine, seeing her in pieces was really quite funny.

“Well, this is just great!  I missing a frickin’ leg.  Thanks a lot, lady.”

I’ve always loved her expression.

The pursed lips in a perfect little bow.

The angled eyebrows that scream of scorn.

The stand-offish posturing.

The stink eye that sees right through you, sends chills down your spine and makes you shudder in your skin.

She’d be absolutely deplorable, if she wasn’t so darn adorable.

Absolutely deplorable.

  1. LOL Pea Kitty looks so EVIL like she’s plotting something.

  2. BAAA HAAAA ! cats have The Best faces… so nonplussed.

  3. Heather says:

Haha! Too cute! Totally cracking up over “Well, this is just great! I missing a frickin’ leg. Thanks a lot, lady.”

  4. she kind of looks like Stockard Channing.

    Tink, not Pea Kitty :)

  5. At least you’re taking the broken figurine like a champ and can make light of it all! Motherhood…it’s keeps everything in perspective, doesn’t it. But I woulda been bummed had my Tink undergone an amputation. And you’re right she DOES have a major stink eye going on!

  6. Hilarious – Tink looks pissed.

  7. Katie says:

lol! that is a mean looking tinkerbell!! Where did you buy her at? Oh my too funny!

  8. haha Lori would of been devastated, she loves TINK! :)

  9. Haha poor tinkerbell! I love her spunk though, that facial expression is hilarious!

  10. Olivia says:

Hahaha I feel so sympathetic for you having that kitty! Dogs will definitely always have my heart:)

  11. hahaha oh pea kitty…that face sums it up!

  12. Emily says:

Hahaha Pea Kitty really is a piece of work :) Poor Tink though…maybe we need to clap our hands?

  13. That’s Tinkerbell’s face when she finds out Peter is a girl

  14. oh my gosh. pea kitty really does have one mean stink eye! were you able to do some superglue magic to fix tink? or is she gone forever?

  15. This story totally makes me think of when I broke part of my mom’s manger set when I was a kid…Probably right around Lulu’s age. “I had a blankie”…and was “dancing” with it. Read: swinging it around while spinning in circles and waving my arms around. I don’t actually remember it happening, but apparently I knocked the donkey from the prized ceramic manger set right off of the mantle…he shattered into little pieces. 25+ years later, Mom still doesn’t have a donkey. …and I’ve stopped dancing with my blanket.

  16. Michele says:

Oh my…that is one evil looking picture of Pea Kitty. I’ve always taken her side but now I’m not so sure…

  17. Love this!!! Had me rolling in laughter!

  18. We went out to dinner last night for my oldest son’s birthday and there were 4 Disney princesses at one of the tables. (Our waiter thought they were coming from Disney on Ice.) Pryce begged me to go see the princesses. When we went to say “hi” to them they gushed all over us and asked us all what our names were. Tinkerbell asked me what my name was. I suddenly felt like a kid again. “Tinkerbell asked me my name!” Then they sang a song to us. It was so cool! :-)
LOVE the last pic of “Stink Kitty”.

  19. Hayley says:

I’ve seen that last look so many times from Louise. What is it about cats?

Great post – I’m still smiling as I write this.

  20. Haha, That’s the best figurine of Tinkerbelle! Oh the good ol’ stink eye.

  21. Orrr~you could just pretend she got gangrene :P Have a beautiful Sunday Pea family!

  22. haha, love Tink’s spunk!! Great post :D

  23. Abby says:

Well, if you “tinker” with the glue gun a bit, I’m thinking she’ll make a complete recovery. However, I would not recommend approaching Pea Kitty with any sort of weapon, as you might end up in the infirmary with the little pixie.

  24. You can feel the hate radiating out of pea kitty in pretty much every picture!

  25. haaaaahahahhaa! You’re right – Tinks face is perfect for having a busted leg. She kind of scares me. You know what scares me more? Your freaking cat.

  26. Hannah says:

    You’re so right – that expression is 100% more fitting now she’s one-legged :D
