IMG_8626

And where am I going to even put this?!

IMG_8618

“Mommy, can I eat these crusts?”

IMG_8616

“Sure, knock yourself out.”

IMG_8613

“Can I get some jam on these?”

  1. Chocolate Cherry Bread Pudding?! Ohhhhhhh yes! :)

  2. I cannot believe how much you’ve accomplished today. You are superwoman in my eyes!

That bread pudding looks absolutely amazing. I cannot wait to see more pictures!!!! Wishing you lots and lots of good luck over the next few days. You can totally do this!

  3. Sarah says:

(((hugs))) to you, Mama Pea. You have a lot of work ahead of you but it is fun and exciting and you’re going to have the best time, even if you will be completely EXHAUSTED come next week. Your book will be GREAT, no matter what happens :)

  4. kalin says:

    i love little kid swears.
    “oh yeah? you’re a stink-brain!”

  5. Marie-Sophie says:

A chocolaty hug from Germany (give a little of this to the girls, too … that should distract them :-) ) … and don’t forget to have some fun, too!! Such an exciting time!

  6. Pharaohscat says:

WOW! I can’t stop smiling! :) Looks like life at your house is really fun!!!

  7. jamie says:

I grew up the only girl with 5 brothaaaas! I’d like to offer my babysitting servive to you. I love Portland (wanted to move there), and have friends there who have kids. Um, I’m taking thhis too seriously. If you want a STRANGER in ur house…email me :)

  8. jamie says:

but, what I REALLY wanted to say was…i admire you. I do. You have this way of teaching your children without doing damage upon them. Giving them knowledge without fear. Instilling wisdom minus attachment. You are doing SO much more than you may know @ this moment, but I will always fill you in the future.

  9. Mary Beth says:

If I could post a picture of myself after seeing this ‘preview’ it would say “Release the book NOW!!!”
    …drool…
    Consider this my pre-order :)

  10. Wow you’re book is going to be awesome! :D Can’t wait for it! Everything looks so GOOD!
And clearly you have the patience of a saint! :P

    • MamaPea says:

Um, no. Pea Daddy and I had both lost it by about 9:30 last night when the girls were still awake, yet somehow somebody had already wet the bed. Guts, indeed.

  11. Brittany says:

I think my dorm kitchen in corvallis needs some home cooked food :)

keep on it, these pictures are going to turn out awesome for the book!!

  12. Floey says:

Oh gosh, I remember when I was younger and my mom would be cooking for guests coming later in the day or to bring to a gathering — I would definitely pull a Lulu “I’m going to say a bad word face” if I felt like I wouldn’t be able to sample those lovely dishes. Hehe..

  13. The cakes look amazing, actually all the food does in this post! Hope all the recipe making/photo taking goes well!

  14. Lauren says:

Can I please come and stay in the Pea house for just a day? Your house is so much fun! :)

  15. It looks like you handled the second prep day well. :) Remember why you’re doing this… remember why you’re doing this.

  16. Haha, love the last picture! You are on a roll, keep up the good work!

  17. Looks like a fun day!

Hope you got to relax after that busy day :)

  18. Its time to start utilizing the cold garage!! Can I come hang, eat, and be a little assistant to?! I promise I’ll let Lulu have the beater and give Gigi the crusts.. but those balls are MINE. hahah have fun! Can’t wait to see photos :)

  19. My kids go for Poop and Tee-Tee. One time, in total 5 yr old anger/tantrum mode, she screamed out “Your, your…. your clothes are ugly.” I had to try so hard not to break out in laughter.

Keep plugging Mama Pea! You can do it!

ps – my entire family is indebted to you for the pumpkin scones and pumpkin gingersnaps. One of the two will be made again today.

    • MamaPea says:

I’m so glad, Michelle. Not to be corny, but it makes me really happy when I know that my recipes are somebody’s household favorites/traditions! It’s like I’m in your house every time you make it! Now fetch me a drink. ;)

  20. Haha the ‘I’m going say a bad word” photo was one of the best. When I was a little girl, I used to say “I’M SO MAD AT YOU!” While shaking my index finger (assuming it relayed the same message as the middle).

I can’t wait for your book!

  21. You will make it! You will make it! Although, I don’t know if I could make it. Looks hectic. But…you will make it! :D

  22. FoodFeud says:

Whoa! What is in with those olives? And what is up with those cashews? Inquiring minds need to know!

  23. You go girl! You’re going to need a big glass (bottle?) of wine when this little project is over!

  24. Ashley says:

Maybe my favorite post ever?????? The last photo is PRICELESS. See you SOON!!! <3

  25. Chocolate cherry bread pudding and the second best balls? Trust me…I haven’t even tried the food yet, but I know all this work will be so worth it :)

Also, my mom has barely touched the stove or oven since I began baking in middle school. The tables have turned and now she has to ask ME for the beater. Heh heh heh…

  26. LOL I love the last picture.

  27. I love how your tag says, “pissing and moaning”. Too funny. :-)

  28. Astrid says:

I love reading the stories about your adorable family. Pretty amazing. It makes me want kids right now!

  29. Gigi and Lulu are too cute! I can’t wait till my daughter is old enough to cook with me :)

  30. Ella says:

    your girls are so cute!
the other day i made cookies and one of my roommates came home and was horrified that i had already did the dishes so she couldn’t lick the spoon. and we’re almost 21 lol – the game never ends.

  31. I think we can safely say you are doing a fantastic job of making everyone want your book so we can make some of these amazing recipes!!!!!!!!! x

  32. Oh my goodness!! Chocolate cherry bread pudding. And I thought the chocolate cherry Kashi granola bars were good. I’ll take your bread pudding instead.

  33. Liz @ Blog is the New Black says:

I don’t know how you do it, but you do. With style and grace! And humor. You’re admirable, mama!

  34. Lindsey says:

LOVE Lulu’s facial expressions, especially in that first one. I see you also watched Ramona & Beezus :) How cute was that movie? I’ve tried a few of your recipes and loved them all, can’t wait to make more and get your book. Oh wait, it doesn’t come out until next year? GUTS!

  35. The vegan food baby will make up for the frustration…oh yeah and I guess the beautiful photos will help too :)

  36. mckenna says:

you are hilarious and wonderful and i can’t wait to buy your book

  37. What??? Looks like they are just trying to help you out with the mess. Kids are fun, no?

  38. You’re like superwoman. The never ending kitchen full of goodies persists!

  39. Love the last picture of you. Priceless!

  40. Amy says:

    You.can.do.it :)

  41. i’m sill loving your grilled vegetable wraps. but those balls may be my next obsession ;)

  42. Camille says:

Just breaaaattthhhe. Think of how much fun you are going to have when Ashley arrives! Oh, and I will take some of those crusts too…

  43. Ana says:

Sprinkle those crusts with sugar and cinnamon and bake them for a snack, the girls can dip them in soy yogurt!
Or drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and pepper and bake: dip in hummus!
Or bake them as is, pulverize in the vitamix and you have some bread crumbs!
I always find uses for the bread crusts if we are not eating them for a particular reason.
The baked “bread fingers” might help distract the girls from all the other goodies you are making…
    Ana

    • MamaPea says:

I know, I don’t know why I just threw them in the sink. We could have fed them to the birds at the very least. Or Pea Kitty.

      • Ana says:

I know you would not waste food Mama Pea! I can only begin to imagine how crazy you might be with all the recipe remaking and pictures to take.
I just mentioned the crusts because my son loves when I make thin strips of bread for dipping on anything! We also like it with cheese sprinkled in it, we use either the daya cheese or galaxy veggie shreds (which I like even better than daya).
Good luck and have fun with Ashley!
I seriously cannot wait until your book come out next year, and I am glad I can keep making the delicious recipes in the blog until then!
        Ana

  44. Kath says:

    AHAHAHA. Love the opening sequence

  45. Jen H says:

I love that bad word, “Guts”. When my 4 yr old gets mad she says “I’m going to…squeeze your toes” That’s the worst she can think of, I guess? We’ll appreciate this when they’re teenagers!

  46. Kelly says:

Ok first, Lulu looks like Shirley Temple. Second, I’m coming over and you’re making me chocolate cherry bread pudding. The pregnant fat lady has spoken. Love ya.

  47. Hahahaha! I love how one of your tags is “pissing and moaning.” That sounds like an incredibly exhausting day, I can understand if you never would want to cook again ;) Just kidding!

  48. Sana says:

    Is your swear jar full?

  49. LuLu is adorable and hilarious. What work. What great looking food! I think you need a second or third ‘fridge. :-)

  50. EatLiveRun says:

    hah! absolutely hysterical.

    GUTS!!!

  51. Amber K says:

Beaters are always the best part!

  52. Cynthia says:

You are hilarious!! I can not wait until your book hits the book stores!! After all of your cooking and photo shoots are done make sure you treat yourself to a relaxing spa day. Lord knows you deserve it. The girls are adorable as always, but that last pic of you….Priceless! Your swear jar must be turning into a swear vat by now….LOL! :)

  53. Chelsea says:

Wow. You really will need me. Heading out at ten with Tupperware and an extra fridge…

  54. Erica D says:

Bread pudding, my fave! Pea Daddy has good taste (but you knew that already)!

  55. Kristy says:

That last pic says it all! :) Can’t wait to see that same pic at the end of l your cooking/baking marathon!! :)

  56. should i email you my address for this overflow?! seriously, mama pea, i’ll take a beater :)

  57. Mandiee says:

Good luck, Mama Pea and Ashley! I’m sure your first book will be a great success. (It cannot come out soon enough!) Oh, and if you need help figuring out what to do with all the food you’re making, I’d be happy to oblige ;) .

    Have a lovely day!
    xox

  58. CharlieGirl says:

i can’t even comprehend an undertaking like this. it makes the Type-A half of me bow in adoration.

  59. Dorry says:

Oh the beaters. You are a superhero, Mama Pea! It’s amazing what you get done in a day. I spent the day with my sister and her 2 daughters on Tuesday and I recognize the “Lord, help me” moments. My nieces sure are cute but they never stop talking, asking, needing, wanting…. :)

  60. Lian says:

    dearest mama peaaa,
HANG IN THERE, it’ll all be so worth it in the end, and we are all cheering you on ! :D
    rah rah rah <3
i’d love a beater as well. peas, and thank you ;)

  63. polly says:

    hehehehe :)

    LOVE YOU!!!!
Stale bread is a great ingredient!

In our house that means = FRENCH TOAST.

    HUGS!!!
    P

  64. Stephanie says:

I definitely want a pre-order…even a raw copy of the manuscript will work! lol

Hearing that you will be cooking/baking several recipes during the next few days really makes me wish I lived closer. I would be your “taster” for you!! I love baking and cooking!

  65. bitt says:

    I want a beater too.

  66. Sally says:

In the words of my great, wise ancestors: Oy Vey, the dishes you must have! I am all over this book when it comes out :)

  67. Natalie says:

Funny when you mentioned your injured middle finger the other day and you put a picture up — I just knifed mine in the EXACT same spot today.. same finger and everything! Creepy!

  68. Steph says:

hahaha I love lulu’s facial expressions. She is so animated.
Was her bad word “guts”?! what does that even mean?

  69. ha – what a day! ps… love the bandaid!

  70. Namaste Gurl says:

Hang in the lady– the end results will be beneficial and pay off. I know that once it’ll all come together and in the end, your book will top Dreena’s :) I have no doubts!

  71. Shauna says:

Argh, that sounds like a crazy day. Be strong! It’ll be worth it in the end :)

  72. Lois says:

That last picture was hilarious! I so feel that way every night now a days!

    Thanks for the laugh!
Can’t wait to see Ashley’s pixs.

  73. Gabriela says:

This is my first time leaving you a comment. I just NEEDED to say that you have the most beautiful, adorable daughters! I hope that when I do have kids they are as cute as yours. They are are just so cute I feel like squeezing them!

  74. Sandi says:

Oh my goodness, Mama Pea, why is your book not coming out until August!? I need it now! XD
