Flying Solo
It’s no illusion that the girls are the best of friends.

I’m able to keep all the balls I’m juggling in the air because they really do entertain themselves quite well while I cook, use my PedEgg, write stories and find LOST characters’ muppet counterparts.
Locke: Cookie Monster
Driven by a singular purpose (we prefer Cookie’s to Locke’s) and sometimes so cryptic as to be incomprehensible.
Not that I don’t spend the majority of my day molding my young brood.

That’s the closest thing I’ve had to a facial in four years.

I’m so proud.

I’m cannot wait to put together their wedding reception slide shows in twenty thirty-five years.
Yet today, Lulu’s sidekick was feeling a bit under-the-weather.

This meant that while I was checking off my to-do list, Lulu was left to her own devices.

This is NEVER a good thing.

“All by myself….don’t want to be, all by myself…”

I’m not even showing you the dozens of crayon wrapper shreds I picked out of the carpet. She’s a peeler.
“The Arteest” moved onto a new medium whilst I finished things up in the kitchen.

Here We Go Looby-Lou decided to take the lids off of about twenty markers and mix them up.

That was a fun one to put away.
I finally got her entertained with a game while I made some Vegan Protein Pancakes (for one).

I like this recipe for a post-weights workout because it is high in protein with some fast digesting carbs to carry the nutrients to my muscles.
- 1 1/2 scoops Sun Warrior Vanilla Rice protein (can use about a 30 g scoop of whatever protein powder you like)
- 1/4 c. old fashioned oats
- 1/2 of a small banana
- 1/2 t. baking powder
- 1/2 t. cinnamon
- 1-2 T. non-dairy milk
- 1 packet of stevia
- few drops of vanilla
Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender.

Pour batter into a preheated skillet that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray over medium high heat.

Flip very carefully after a few minutes, and cook on the other side.

I enjoyed mine with a tiny drizzle of maple syrup, and the sounds of Lulu making a killing at solitary BINGO.

It’s pretty sad when she needs a bra more than I do.
Here’s to hoping Gigi feels better tomorrow…and that I get a facial, or at least some Biore Clear Pore Strips, for Mother’s Day.

How oh How do you do the Mom thing all day and still manage to have your hair looking so fabu?
I hope Gigi’s back to normal soon! Lulu clearly needs someone to pelt with play-doh
LOVE the curls my friend
Thanks for the recipe too… I needed more baked goods to eat!
Sorry Gigi is not feeling well! I hope she feels better soon and that the rest of you don’t get it! Have a great weekend!
Those scones look great. I’m attempting scones for the first time this weekend (for Mother’s Day) and hoping they don’t completely fail. Ah well, it’s the thought that counts!
Okay, for once, I was a step ahead of you in every picture even though my girls are almost 20 years older than your girls! I’m positive it will never occur again, though!
The peeling of the crayon wrappers, the marker caps, one poor girl feeling under the weather…oh, it brought back so many memories! I love it! Happy Mother’s Day to you!
yum, I make pretty much the same pancake recipe except I use pumpkin instead of banana (and unveganize with an egg white). Good to know they stick together well without it. If you make a sauce out of .5 tbsp almond butter, a chunk of banana, and some almond breeze blended together it’s pretty much the best thing on earth
lol. Too funny! I like how many different outfits LuLu had on :> And I love your hair like that! Were those scones you were making?? Happy early Mom’s Day!
Hilarious! I love your blog, it’s wonderful!
Oh, how I can’t wait for this. Two little girls who can play together! When does this happen??? Right now, my time in the kitchen is interrupted every 30 seconds either by someone crying or me checking to make sure no one is bleeding.
Of course, when they do get to the point where they can play happily, I intend to use the time lying on the sofa eating chocolates.
I hope Gigi is on the mend!
Hahahaha I love the reference to the PedEgg!!! What would we do without them?! Just found your blog, and I’ve loved reading some of your latest posts
PS you and your girls are gorgeous!
At least you are a smart enough Mama to have Color Wonder markers. This-not-so-smart Mama needs a new carpet (or better yet- hardwoods!) under the dining room table now.
Your sooo funny!!!!!!
I love the LOST reference
I hope Gigi is much better tomorrow to help with the mess making.
Hope Gigi feels better!
feel better Gigi!!! your blog never ceases to make me smile
That sweet first photo reminded me of how badly I’ve always wanted a sibling!
Get well wishes to Gigi!
A facial is the only thing I really splurge on…every 6 weeks or so. When you have crappy skin like mine it isn’t really a splurge though as much as a necessity!
Hope Gigi feels better soon.
I am going to make crayons that don’t have the paper wrappers. I understand the paper is there for a reason, but my daughter peels it off immediately and I am am constantly picking wrappers off the floor, out of pockets, etc.
Aww I’m sorry Gigi isn’t feeling good. Let’s hope she gets better and doesn’t affect Lulu. I swear when one kid gets something, the next day another will. That’s how it worked in my family.
happy early mother’s day to the most hilarious mother in the world! hope G feels better soon, before L moves onto paint buckets. or D cups. <3
Hope Gigi feels better ASAP!
My L is a peeler too! I hope G feels better soon!
Totally trying these pancakes after I buy this protein powder someday.
I hope Gigi feels better!!!
Lulu’s cleavage beats mine by a long shot. As do most three year olds. And most men.
Oh no!! Hope Gigi feels better soon!!
Thanks for the pancake recipe!! It looks awesome!!
Thank you so much for this recipe! I’ve been searching forever for an egg-free protein pancake recipe…and been too scared to experiment myself. I’ve had a few pancake tragedies in my day. Anyway, I will be trying these ASAP. (You think they would work with unsweetened vanilla Spirutein?)
Gottta love the “play dough” facials!!!
-Hailey-
Aww, these photos are so sweet! Whenever you post pics of your girls together, it always reminds me of my younger sister and I when we were growing up. Plus, you kind of look like my mom when she was your age haha! But, unlike you, she never fixed us nummy yummy vegetarian food. I know your girls will thank you for everything that you do when they’re older. Take care!
Feel better soon Gigi!
My sisters were my best friends growing up and they still are. So glad your girls have that too
LOL! LOVE these photos!
They are so cute! I’ll bet those pictures will be a hit at their weddings!
Be still my heart. I think I peed myself laughing at John Locke:Cookie Monster.
Hope Gigi feels better and that you have a wonderful Mother’s Day!
On a different note…..”all by myself”…….you had me cracking up aloud (as always)
Happy Mother’s Day Mama Pea! Hope you get to spend the day doing whatever makes you happy
((prologue to my comment: I couldn’t remember your URL so I googled mama pea and “mama pea’s quilts” came up; I was certain that was you! it wasn’t))
Happy mother’s day! I’m so glad your daughters treated you to a spa clay mask treatment! you skin will be glowing today!
Haha! I think that’s the closest thing I’ve had to a facial too.
Happy Mother’s Day! You are really molding those girls so well. You can tell by their smiles and joy in life. Have a great one.
Just found your blog and I must say you are hilarious! I love it!! And those pumpkiny pancakes? YUM.
Oh man! I want to come to your house and make my own play dough spectacles! Poor Gigi … and poor Mama Pea for having to clean up that river of crayons. Hopefully she’ll play with the 12-crayon box next time
Happy Mother’s Day, Mama Pea!
Poor Gigi!! I hope she feels better – for her sake, Lulu’s AND yours! You definitely deserve(d) a nice Mother’s Day after having to pick up the crayon wrapper bits and figure out which markers belonged to which lids! Those girls definitely keep you on your toes!
PS – LOVE the “face masks”!!
made the protein pancakes today since i wanted pancakes and this combination of ingredients was what i had on hand. they were great. thank you for the recipe!
Just made these with chocolate protein powder, YUM!
I made your protein pancakes for breakfast and loved them! They are so delicious. I have tried so many pancake recipes that have been failures but yours is definitely a keeper
