Peas On Film: Vegan Energy Bars

Can you handle your very first Peas and Thank You vlog?
It’s everything you would expect: vegan baking, My Little Ponies, show tunes and more. We hope you enjoy…or at least don’t unsubscribe.
I don’t think Paula Deen or Rachael Ray are going to lose any sleep over their job security. You can find the original recipe here. We’re keeping Gigi out of school today to work on her theme song composition. I won’t go to sleep tonight until I perfect my jazz hands. And Lulu? She’s still playing Ponies.

Love the vlog! Those sound so good!
haha, i like the vlog. i keep intending to make these but i never have all the ingredients.
You are too cute! I love it!
oh, can extra oats be used in place of the whole wheat flour, btw?
Yes! I forgot to say that you can sub out so many of the ingredients. If you use protein powder, you could sub that for the flour. If you are gluten intolerant, just add an extra 1/2 c. of oats. Or leave out the flour and add a 1/2 a cup of chopped nuts. Good luck!
great soundtrack, lulu! they look delicious.
OMG you guys are the cutest thing I have ever seen in my entire life.
Sooo cute and making me want to make some of your vegan treats ASAP! the girlies are also so entertaining!
OH no, the film won’t work. Now how can I go to sleep? I need to see this. I was so excited to see a VIDEO here…
that…… was adorable. My ovaries ached just watching it.
This is so cute! Just made my night! I love the vlog and can’t wait to see more!
Okay so I prematurely panicked. Your vlog worked after a few minutes of trying it. Love your hair by the way. This really was fun to watch!!!! How could your girls be any cuter than they are in photos…but they were!
I will make these bars tomorrow. Please do make more vlogs! You are a natural. And no offense, but it would not be nearly as entertaining without Gigi and Lulu.
Oh wow, Gigi and Lulu are such cute kids! What a cool idea this was for you guys to do this all together, including Pea Daddy at the camera i am assuming… “Where were you yesterday?”, “At the Carousel” haha, what a great line. I love Gigi’s song at the end, i would definitely watch the Pea Family on the food network every week! I say we get together all of your fans and start a petition to get you guys at least on the Ellen show! I heard she is vegan now too, so i think a cooking segment would be a great addition to her show, especially with Lulu singing in the background
I will have new posts up soon since i have been severely lacking lately, but i always make time to read peas and thank you! I have been meaning to write you an email about the last three recipes my family has tried of yours… I am thinking one of my first posts this week will be a huge re-cap of what i have attempted now that there has been about 4 recipes…
I love this!!! I hope you decide to vlog regularly (and I agree vlog not v-log!). Adorbs!!
So freaking cute! Thank you for posting this. It made my night a little brighter
Loved the Vlog! You and Gigi and Lulu all just made my day!
I definitely plan to make these in the future, especially now that I know how to do the flax-egg substitution!
Thanks for sharing your yummy recipes and life with us readers
Love love LOVED the vlog. You have to make more of them with your other yummy treats! Going to make those sometime this week for sure. Oh- I tried your Spanish Quinoa recipe last week. So easy and good!
Your kids are going to be baking geniuses by the time they’re 8!
they’re so adorable. I love Lulu, she’s just a riot.
OMG all of you are soo adorable- I could watch you guys all day long
does that sound freaky??
xoxo Mel
next vlawg: music video.
it would make you a major youtube celeb.
That video put a smile on my face for the first time in about two weeks! I’d give you both your own show in a snap.
Gigi and Lulu are beyond adorable but I don’t know how you have the energy to keep up with them! I was exhausted just watching it
<3
~Jess~
Adorable! Your girls are so cute and I love your curly hair!!
“Where were you, yesterday?”
“At the Carousel.”
Hahaha! I love that line. So literal, kids are.
Wonderful Vlog. I really hope you continue them. And please include as many references to the gynecologist’s office as poss. Thanks!
OMGosh so adorable! I love when GiGi asks if she can stir all by herself! Hahahah and I LOVE Lulu singing the whole time. And the theme song is great! Love, love love!
Mama Pea! This is wonderful!!!! I think this should be submitted to Foodnetwork. (I especially love LuLu’s serenading in the background!) Too cute!
I am a huge fan and I always read your blog, but this is my first time commenting! I HAD to comment on this though! That was the cutest thing I’ve seen in a long time. Lulu and Gigi are so adorable. I’m only a teenager and my whole life I have said “I don’t want to have kids”, but they have changed my mind. You’re such a great mother to them too – why didn’t my mom ever make me vegan energy bars? Hahah.
Oh my gosh. I don’t know what my favorite part of this vlog is– Lulu’s head poking up midway through the video, or Gigi’s theme song…ahhh, so adorable!!
And looks like a great recipe too! More vlogs is a must!!
Loved the vlog soundtrack! (I call them vlogs too, as opposed to v-logs). What I want to see it one of those talent shows you get to watch on a daily basis
) Your girls are too cute and they are indeed pretty lucky. I remember baking with my mom (non-vegan, but still whole wheat and whole ingredients) and I loved those times! Can’t wait to have kids in a few years and pass it on…
Great job. Vlogs are popular now.
I don’t know how you create these recipes – I assume you create them yourself?
that was the cutest thing
this was such a great thing to wake up to
i loved it! and ur daughters are of course soooo adorableee!
This is my first time posting– but I just wanted to say this was soo cute. Actually, when I saw Gigi helping I remembered when I would get excited to help my mom mix the dry ingredients when I was little. I’m sure you know this but you truly are so lucky to spend each day with them as they grow. Love your blog, have been following for a while, keep the videos coming
Dude, your girls are so adorable!!!!!!
Love the recipe too. Honestly, seeing how easy that just was I think I am inspired to make them!!!!! So now I have like 4 of your recipes bookmarked- I better get to it!!
I would watch you over Rachel Ray anyday! And I am making these pronto- any idea of the best way to make them gluten-free? I work with a lovely gluten-free lady at work and would love for her to be able to have some as well!
Hey G, just make sure the oats you use are gluten free (I know Bob’s Red Mill’s oats are) and then sub out the 1/2 c. of whole wheat pastry flour for an additional 1/2 c. of oats. If you want the same texture as the original recipe, you could even grind those oats into oat flour…I mean you’ve got your grinder out for the flax already anyway, right?
Oh MP. I was up all night getting home (bad weather, airport closed, had to land and refuel), and I didn’t think anything could chase away the morning grumpies. WRONG! Let’s add TV network to your future media empire, shall we?
Love the vlog! Can’t wait for the next one! Your hair is adorable and so are your girls! And I love the background Lulu sound effects as well! Do you make your own hummus? I’d love to see a demonstration of that. I have not been able to perfect mine yet.
Oh my gosh, your girls are so beautiful! Gigi lurves the camera doesnt she, maybbe you have a budding actress in the family? And as always your baking looks delish!
Mama Pea I loved this demo, especially the (flax egg) part. I’ve always wanted to try that trick but not sure how to do it. Thanks . Definately going to try these today.
Love the vlog! Thanks! You are such a great mom!
What a fun video! (I refuse to say vlog, I think it sounds creepy, like a spider from Harry Potter or something) Food Network, this girl’s available…tip for you: snatch her up before her cookbook makes her an overnight star, and you have to pay twice as much for her brilliance.
That was great! The girls are always so adorable! I am so glad to see other people involve their kids in baking. My son helped me make a batch of vegan/gluten free cornbread muffins this weekend along with some baked doughnuts and he wanted to do more! I love sharing that time with him. The recipe sounds delicious too!
Ahh I just love you guys! Please do more vlogs in the future!
Oh my, sooo cute! I loved it.
I can so relate to the background noise, never a quiet moment in this house.
So awesome. Please do more vlogs – complete with the theme song and my little pony – soon!
I definitely want to try those bars out too!
Would definitely LOVE to see more vlogs from the Pea fam!
this is SO ADORABLE i almost don’t know what to do
Great vlog! Your girls are so adorable and funny. They are going to be amazing vegan bakers when they are older with all of this training! The bars look delicious too, thanks for sharing.
I love it! Your girls are just darling! And I can see some major definition in your arms..woohoo!!
HOW charming are you and your girls? This vlog was awesome. Loved the demo. And loved the bit about “nothing is perfect.”
Cute first vlog. Fun to watch.
Totally adorable. I would watch any vlog from your family. You are such a good mom with your girls.
How fun was this blog post?! I would love to see a vegan pizza baking show. Or more bars! You are going to take Paula Deen’s job, I just know it!
You all are absolutely adorable! It was really fun to watch!
You need to submit this video to the food network or that new channel “cooking”…SRSLY so cute!
Oh my gosh, I love the singing in the background. My request: More My LIttle Ponies! They were great in the accident re-creation, I think they should be baking, too. You guys are all adorable.
SOO cute!
I love your hair curled like that!
I’m going with vlog, as opposed to v-log, I’m with ya on it sounded like something in the gyno office.
The girls are too funny, I love that you can hear Lulu just signing to herself the whole time, and Gigi’s theme song is your ticket to stardom
My fav is Lulu singing in the background the whole time!
I love that your girls were just having fun with it. That’s what makes baking with kids interesting
Keep them coming. I would love to see a cupcake recipe vlogged.
Love me some live Peas and Thank You action! Have to ask – did you intend to wear a pea-green colored shirt, or is it just a lovely, cosmic conicidence?
LOVED this vlog! I’d love to see more of them, Sarah!!
The video is so cute! I love how you cook with your girls.
It’s the Pea family! Holy cow you guys are just too cute.
Love it!
PRECIOUS!! Omg, I loved watching you cook with your daughter. I can only hope that I’ll be at least half as awesome of a mother as you one day. This melted my heart!!
I would totally watch Food Network or any other that you had a show on! This is too cute and I love your recipes
Loved it!
So cute. And thanks for explaining — I always mix the wet and dry together way too much (I’m a “DO NOT OVERMIX” nightmare) and never quite understood why it was not good to do so. More vlogs!
Mama Pea, you, Lulu and Gigi (and Pea Daddy!) are all awesome.
Just sayin’ (:
More vlogs, please!
This is just too cute–I love it!
can you adopt me…seriosuly!lololoololl
Adore this!!! Seriously adore this…I love vlogs but this blows all the others out of the water!!!
LOVE the v-post!
Awesome vlog! I just baked some and they are so yummy. This was my first time trying a vegan recipe and I’m sorry it took me so long because I’ve been missing out.
One question though, how much sugar did you add? I figured it was 1/4-1/2 cup?
I hope the Pea’s do another vlog soon.
Thank you!
The recipe calls for 1/4 c. of sugar. I’m so glad you liked them!
I always read your blog, rarely comment, but I just wanted to say that was the most entertaining vlog I’ve ever watched =) Au contraire, I do think Paula Deen and Rachael Ray should be worried about their day jobs.
You, and your girls, look absolutely gorgeous and insanely happy =)
Love your sense of humor and hope to see more vlogs soon!
Aw, so cute!
Loved the vlog, you should definitely make more!
LOVE THIS! I know someone said this but you should totally submit to food network! this is beyond cute and you had some great tips in there for cookng with kids!!
That was great! Lulu had me cracking up! So nice to see a little glimpse into your life with the girls! More please!!
so cute, you’re amazing!
I played your video just after i woke up at 6am this morning and i thought my headphones were plugged in until my still-asleep roommate rolls over and says, “Why do I hear little kids talking?”
hahaha…we love you!
LOVE it.
like i said before, i’m up for adoption
Oh my…this couldn’t have been cuter. I can seriously see you having a cooking with kids show on the Food Network!! All three of you are adorable!!!
I loved the vlog, so cute! Lulu adds a certain something to it
And I love how Gigi’s head whips around when you say peanut butter, lol. These bars look so good.
Cuuuuuuuuuute! This was fun–def. do more. I do have a certain Duran Duran song in my head though, as a result of this post’s title. THAT video was not quite as wholesome as yours, if I recall…
I love the vlog
Your kids are too adorable. Keep the vlogging and blogging.
You’re so awesome! I absolutely LOVED watching your vlog! Gigi and Lulu are so adorable, and they are so lucky to have such a great mom!
Please adopt me!
This was my favorite post! I really feel I got to ‘know’ you- you seem so warm and fun! I think doing the v-log was the best thing you could have done! It gave us a chance to see your true personality and your ‘silly’ side. Thank you! It was a joy to watch!
XO
B
Absolutely adorable! More Vlogs please
Gah! I’ve wanted to watch this all day but I was at work. I don’t want to share my time with The Peas.
I’ve been measuring my flax already ground. Maybe that’s why my flax eggs NEVER turn out. Hehe…decaf coffee…how are you doing with that?!
I actually think you did give Rachel a run for her money. And Madonna better watch out for that Lulu in the background…she’s got a good set of pipes on her
This made my day. You are SO cute. I’d much rather watch you than Paula, Rachel, or giant-headed Giada. You are such a fun mom and your girls are darling. I want kids every time I read your blog and this vlog has increased that desire.
I love Lulu’s singing in the background at the end and when her pigtails were barely popping up over the counter before she came up to stir. LOL
adorable! by far the best food vlog i’ve seen.
and congratulations on your book!
Oh my gosh. You guys are too adorable. I don’t even know how to deal with it.
I loved seeing you guys “in real life”; more videos please! (I personally don’t like V-log OR vlog, both sound weird to me.)
I think the best part of your blog and these videos is the great documentation of your family. When your girls are older it will be so much fun to look back on!
Happy tuesday!
Best Vlog ever!! Gigi is just as adorable in person as in writing! Love, Love, Loved it! (Even if it did have gluten
)
Love it. Please do more!
Omg. Can I please adopt Gigi now?! Or at least babysit???? I don’t even babysit anymore but i’m DYING to babysit your girls
LOVE when Gigi had to sample the chocolate chips before mixing–she’s too frickin cute. And lulu’s singing in the background?? Adorable.
Thanks for the vid mama pea!! That recipe sounds bombb and I may just want to eat it raw –it is vegan after all! No shame.
“looser in the bins” – why does that sound dirty to me
LOVE the vlog (i prefer that to v-log)
Hey! I just made these a few days ago! Yum yum
Gigi’s got some mad stirring skills. And is that Lulu I hear in the background?
I was having a stressful day & this video just brightened my outlook completely. Now I’m on to the kitchen to give this a try.
Thank you!
I loved this! I hope you do more Vlogs, it’s a great addition to your blog. Gigi is super cute
Hahaha. LOVE IT!
I normally don’t watch vlogs, they really slow down the old laptop, but I decided to watch a few minutes of yours and you did an amazing job!! Congrats!
thank goodness you linked back to this one. i never had the chance to watch it but the office is pretty ghost-town-ish today.. so i have been vlog watching left and right!
Just discovered your blog yesterday! Love your site!
How much sugar is in the vegan energy bars recipe?
Thank you!
I don’t know off the top of my head, but you can check the recipe page!
