The Living Room Floor
Sometimes we sweat on the living room floor.

I lost a bet on the living room floor.

We dance to some tunes on the living room floor,

find unexplained spoons on the living room floor.

Sometimes we beach on the living room floor.

We often teach on the living room floor.

Perhaps conceived on the living room floor?

Somebody peed on the living room floor.

We laid a sheet on the living room floor.

Tonight we did EAT on the living room floor!

Picnic Tortilla Pinwheels
- 4 whole wheat flour tortillas
- 6 slices tempeh Fakin’ Bacon
- ~1/3 c. Tofutti Better than Cream Cheese
- 1 thinly sliced apple
- 1 c. fresh spinach leaves
Cook “bacon” according to package directions.

Lay out tortillas and spread each with 1-2 tablespoons of “cream cheese.”

Layer 1 1/2 “bacon” slices, apple and spinach in each tortilla and tightly roll.

Cut into slices and serve.

fresh veggie platter

sparkling water, POM juice, blueberries
For all the good times on the living room floor,

and silly rhymes on the living room floor,

when they’re grown and gone from the living room floor,

I’ll remember fondly this living room floor.

Love that you guys had a picnic. And your hair looks gorgeous!
Is that top from old navy? I think I have it in blue and gray!
Yup, and it’s several years old. There may be spit up stains on it from when Gigi was a baby.
Regular reader… random at best commenter. But I just need to say… you (and your girls) and make me SO excited to be a mom!!
so, i used to own that same shirt, in brown.
i’m sad i don’t have it now. we could’ve had twin day!
I’m sad that you know how old my clothes are now.
So, so sweet. And really, your hair looks FABULOUS un-straightened. I LOVE IT. It’s exactly the look that all of us curling iron junkies try for!
What a great post and funny too, as always.
I want to have dinner on the living room floor!
So cute…I love this post.
Your hair looks really pretty by the way!
cute and creative, per usual! Did you homemake tempeh bacon (cI checked the recipe page first but didn’t see anything!)? I tried to make it one time and it was … terrible. Yours looks great.
The living room floor had such good memories for me too. I loved picnics with the family
Hahaha…this post is so funny (as usual)! My favorite line has to be “concieved on the living room floor”. Definitely put a smile on my face!
this is so adorable. i LOVE seeing pictures of the fun you girls (and dad!) all have together
I love that you had a picnic inside with your girls. I am sure they will never forget that!
So freakin’ adorable but I know you did NOT conceive on that floor.
(OMG, did you?)
I hope you’re feeling all better after yesterday!! This post is completely adorable and hilarious..ahem “conceived on the living room floor” LOL…I love that the girls dress up what looks like 5 diff. outfits per day..and why not picnic on the floor..I’m sure the girls completely loved that. You look gorgeous by the way
it always amazes me how well your daughters seem to get along. i never had a sister close to my age (9 years apart) so i’ve never understood the bond, but i always thought they fought a lot. your girls seem to get along wonderfully.
This is one of my favorite posts that you have ever done! How cool is it that you guys have picnics on the living room floor? I love the fact that sometimes the simplest things make for the best memories! My sister and i used to camp out in the family room whenever my dad was on a business trip, because he wouldn’t allow us to when he was home. I still look back on that and loved making forts and the whole idea. You guys are such a happy looking family. I am jealous! I can’t wait until i have kids so i can have indoor picnics with them too… and i am loving the purple theme of this post, it is the best color after all!
Awwww this is a great post! =) Warms my heart!
Those pinwheels look really good
I really gotta make some whole wheat tortillas using your recipe because I just cannot find them in stores. We just have these plastic-y ones with some weird ingredients. :/
Picnic on the living room floor sounds awesome
we used to have picnics at the daycare where i worked on the floor. kids love that stuff. so cool is the family that does that at home.
am i the only one that wonders if gigi is doing wardrobe changes or if these are shots from different days? because lulu’s outfit did not change.
So cute! Those pinwheels look fun and easy to make. I have to agree with everyone… your hair = fab!
This looks like a blast! I’m sure your family enjoyed it. Yummy food with loves ones are the best.
What a fantastic idea! I think I’ll convince my hubby to eat dinner on the floor tonight. I may get some looks, but he’ll get over it!
Awww…too cute! As a poet, I appreciate this post
I second other posters– your hair looks super cute here!
I love your posts with so many pictures of the girls because I love to see their outfit progression, especially Gigi (wait, Gigi is the oldest, right? Oh jeez I hope I didn’t mix up your tots!) Those outfit changes are hilarious!
And floor picnics were a major part of my college life. I had a date once a week for a floor picnic with my best girl friend!
That was adorable. What a sweet post!
This is my most favorite post yet!! Love it. I love your hair too. Gorgeous
why do you make me cry on a daily basis….so…cute.
aww, this is such a nice, sweet post
I love the living room picnic.
you always make me smile…
i had no idea you were in the hospital the other night…i finally signed into twitter and so sorry, that must have been frightening…but i am so happy everything is fine!!!
have a beautiful weekend!
What a great post! Loved the theme.
Have a fabulous weekend!
Cutest. Post. Ever. You are so talented!
I love that Gigi has so many wardrobe changes throughout the day! She must keep you busy doing laundry.
I love good times on the living room floor! Although, ours is now hard woods…so that lessons the fun! Love the picnic!
LOVE this post
and the line about being conceived had me laughing out loud. In my office at work. Too funny!
What a sweet post! I love living room picnics
is it weird that i’m 22, have NO idea what it’s like to be a mom, and teared up at the pictures of the girls at the end? I THINK SO.
LOVE THIS POST! your girls are darling and you are gorgeous.
is the fakin’ bacon good?? because I REALLY love bacon and don’t think I could ever give it up…
I REALLY like the tempeh bacon. I think it tastes a lot like real bacon, but without that fatty, grisly part that you have to work around
Darling post. I just chuckle to myself because it seems Gina’s favorite outfit is her swimsuit. As was my daughter’s at that age- Brings back memories!
Living room floor picnics are the best.
OK, you got me right there at the end…I’m already emotional from all the current (stinkin’) stress right now, but then I look at my boys wrestling on our living room floor….already one of them has had his voice change!
I want to come to that picnic!! By the way, your hair is looking pretty fabulous in that picture!
PS. There’s a high possibility that the blogger who made made me roasted chickpeas in my dream a few nights ago was you. Like I said, it’s a possibility…
Can I just say that I love that you let your girls trot throughout the day in their bathing suits? My mom has told me that when she used to try and dress me, I’d demand that I pick out my clothes…which were not cute. But she said, “Hey, that’s what you wanna wear, go for it. Be you.” I think you do a good job of letting the girls be themselves
love this post. thank you.
I like reading My Little Pony books on your living room floor!
Concieved on the living room floor huh??
LOL!!
I love your hair curly! It looks gorgeous!
PINWHEELS look so great and what a fun idea to eat on the living room!
so many memories!!
What a great idea! I totally would have loved that as a kid (or now…).
Excellent use of my beloved Fakin Bacon!
That was beautiful
I love your hair, you are just so pretty!! That picture of you toasting with your girls is so beautiful. They are so lucky to have such a fun mom!!
I love tempeh “bacon.” Those pinwheels look great!!
I love that you had a picnic in your living room, and love that Gigi and Lulu eat veggies like they do. Now, I think those roll ups and fresh veggies look delicious, but I would not have touched those as a 4 year old…probably cause I was too full of mac & cheese and hot dogs.
Such a cute post. I love rhymes.
Your girls are going to love looking through this blog when they’re young adults! They remind me of my sister and I, we’re just a few years apart in age, and we used to play together constantly. All of your posts are so much fun to read; I’ve never seen another blog written the way that you write, I love it!
A beautiful post and a beautiful pea family
This post made me laugh and smile while sitting in my dingy office cave too!
red wine rather than pom in a cup is the kinda day i am having today
xox
oh if walls could talk. cute idea for a post! makes me want to be silly
Katherine
This entire post reminds me of my life!!! Our living room floor is “where ALL the magic happens” in our house. Well…most of it anyway!! The pinwheels look great too. =)
that reminds me soooo much of my sisters…i love it
Oh that sweet little family we all adore!
What a kick-butt picnic on the living room floor!
Thank you for sharing, that got major smiles out of me!!!!!!!!!!!
I finally found your blog!! I love your posts
They make me feel really upbeat and brighten my days. Thank you!
Such a sweet post. Love it!
Sometimes I read your posts and just sigh heavily. I want to be your kid!!! You are the bast mommy ever in the history of mommies.
Would you let me eat Cocoa Krispies, or no?
Anyway, I’m off on another trip all week! I’ll miss you and can’t wait to catch up when I get back!!!
XO!
Erin
There is no sweeter way to enjoy a “mocktail,” Mama Pea!
