Postcard from the Peas: Day 8
We’re cramming here, folks: cramming as many tourist attractions in our itinerary as possible, cramming every spare minute at the pool or beach, and cramming fake tikis in our suitcase while cramming two pounds of carrot sticks in our carry-ons. We overbought at Costco at the beginning of the week, so while I should be enjoying the view from the lanai, I’m cooking up veggie burgers, slicing and dicing produce, and slapping together more PB&Js than we could eat in a month, let alone a 5 1/2 hour flight to the mainland. Maybe I’ll pass out sandwiches to everyone on the flight in exchange for free movie headsets, pretzels and Air Mall catalogs. Or not. Can you tell I’ve been trying to use up the cocktail fixins as well?
Today we saw a couple of gorgeous churches, some octogenarians at the pool and enjoyed dinner at the Kona Brewing Company. I had a local organic beer and a spinach salad with strawberries, strawberry poppyseed dressing and toasted macadamian nuts. I’ve started a napkin based list of recipes I’ve been inspired by this week, so expect to see some delicious recreations once I get home.
When is that? Tomorrow, sadly. But I’ve got one more guest post I plan on cramming in before our return. Until then, aloha!

Your hair looks really good curly!
Your curly hair looks adorable! Love it!
As a fellow curly head who could NEVER be bothered with straightening, may I just add to the comment above? Your hair looks lovely!

Isn’t leaving vacation so sad? My family all goes separate directions when our vacation comes to a close now, and it makes me cry a little every year. Hope you guys soak up all the fun you can on your last day!
What a fun last day! Your hair looks SUPER adorable curly, btw:)
Your hair looks beautiful like that! Glad the Pea family is having a great time.
Karen beat me to it but your hair looks awesome!
I’m one of those freaks who doesn’t like strawberries on salad. Just never been my thing, but I’m glad you’re getting lots of cooking inspiration. I was just talking to someone the other day about how experiences are the most memorable gift – I’m sure your girls will treasure this trip forever (even if Lulu sorta doesn’t remember and there were barfy parts).
Oh how I love Hawaii!! Great weather, beautiful oceans, and apparently great beer??
Your hair looks great curly Mama Pea!
ditto what karen said. you should bring back the curls more often, yo.
You are ROCKIN those curls missy
All this is doing is making me realize exactly how gloomy it is here…
Your hair looks FANTASTIC curly! I wish my hair would do that.
Napkin based! I love it. Your hair does look good like that…and that church is beautiful! Have a good flight home!

Ha. I’m leaving a comment to say exactly what the other person said. Love your hair curly! Hope y’all have a great trip home.
I agree with Karen! It’s so cute. Have a great last day.
Finally, a picture of Mama Pea with curly hair. You look adorable.
Can’t believe your trip is almost over!
That salad sounds amazing! I love your hair like that
I know you love your straight hair, but I have to agree with Karen – love it curly!
I see someone beat me to it! I was going to say how cute your curly hair is, too.
Love the vacay updates. I hope I can go someday.
Lulu looks like she enjoyed one too many beers at Kona
I second your cute curly hair!
What a cute little church! and I LOVE your hair curly!
I’ve never left a comment before but just had to since you posted a pic of your curly hair…it’s adorable! You should really try wearing it like that for a switch every now and again because it truly looks great!
Awesome pictures!
LOVE your hair curly!!!
So if you + curly hair = bad hair day, then my ‘do must not be as cute as I thought it was! Wear your glasses with that hair and you’d be my doppelganger. I still think you’re fly, even if you don’t.
Safe travels!
To echo everyone else: Your hair is ADORABLE!!! I feel like I always comment about how awesome your hair is, but damn – curly suits you! So does straight, but I’d kill for those curls!
Love the pictures. Safe & happy travels home!
Omgosh, what a cute and teeny little church!
That salad is making my mouth water.
P.S. I agree, Karen. It does!
I love your curly hair! Though my hair has always been straight and I’ve always wished it were curly … must be the same reason why you own a straightener, eh?
That little church is so cute! My husband and I got married at a local historical place in Edmonton, Alberta called Fort Edmonton Park. They have one very large church, 2 smaller ones, and one very tiny cubby-hole of a church that maybe fits 3-4 people. It was so cute! I love the small churches, though there is something to be said of those really large ones with the huge pipe organs … I love those!
