Dream Date
..for Gigi at least. Lulu is another matter entirely.
We had nothing on the agenda for the day and with it being Winter Break, we were free to go and do whatever we wanted. I got up and got my workout done as early as possible, followed by a green smoothie in a bowl, so we could attempt to leave the house before the next presidential election.

- spinach
- 1 scoop vanilla soy protein powder
- frozen strawberries
- frozen mango
- almond milk
- cinnamon
- Kashi Go Lean and granola toppings
Because three members of our family have hair care and fashion obsessions, even on a good day God Himself couldn’t get us out of the house before 10 am. Thank goodness our church has an 11:15 service and we had that pomade intervention for Daddy.
But today we weren’t meeting God, we were meeting Kalin. I got the crazy notion to take the girls to the Inflatable Kingdom. Andrea thought this meant we were going to L.A., but really we were just going to a adult store kids’ play area full of bounce houses.

Gigi was in HEAVEN. We got there and I didn’t see her for about 45 minutes. That’s not entirely true. I saw the top of her head a lot.

I’m sure you didn’t see this coming, but not everyone wanted to become queen of the Inflatable Kingdom.

Lulu assumed the position for the whole time we were there. Given the Great Trampoline Incident of July ’09, I can’t say I’m surprised.

Bones have memory.
After Gigi had bounced to her heart’s content, we went NEXT DOOR to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch. Honestly, I don’t think you could plan a better date for Gigi unless she could ride a unicorn from one place to the other.

I was worried about taking the girls to a buffet with Pea Daddy to assist in return trips to the pizza and fro yo bars, but I took advantage of Kalin‘s mothering genes (not to be confused with “mom jeans”) and I also took advantage of Lulu’s strange “love at first sight” obsession with cottage cheese. Pea Daddy, will you sponsor her through her 12 Step Program?

I had a great big salad and a few bites of a meh tomato potato soup.

We went over to the mall and Gigi drooled over Pottery Barn Kids, running from room-to-room yelling, “Look at this room, it’s beautiful!!!” Kalin and I did the same thing in Williams and Sonoma.

Just when Gigi thought things couldn’t get any better, as we were saying goodbye to Kalin, it started snowing!

The girls tried to catch snowflakes on their tongues, but ended up looking like they were just very “special.”

We headed home with some delicious homemade granola from Kalin in tow.

Being the mean mom I am, I prayed that the snow would have stopped by the time we got home so that I was not forced to put layer upon layer of pink long underwear, pink snow pants, pink fleeces, pink jackets, pink hats and pink gloves on one yet-to-be-potty trained toddler and a preschooler who likes to have “accidents” during giggle fits, just so they could go play in the snow.
Unfortunately, it was starting to accumulate by the time we got home.

It now looks like almost two inches have accumulated.

Someone has robbed my 10 pound Costco bag for a “nose.”

Hurry home, Pea Daddy, so I don’t have to brave the elements/winter wear. There just might be a mall kiosk hair serum sample in it for you.

lol– Gotta love a kid who appreciates Pottery Barn at such a young age
Looks like a fun date!
I am 20 years old and this is MY idea of a perfect day. For my 21st birthday I will do everything in my power to get a whole slew of inflatable castles. Do you think they’d put bars in them for jump-up service?
Great blogger meetup! And anytime you can go to PBK AND Williams Sonoma with a food bloggie friend..it’s a great day! I cant believe Im still up…nitey nite!!!
Hahah- too funny… There is no sweet tomatoes here in RI but I loved that place when we went to Florida last year… wanna beg them to send one my way?!?! Snow… aw man- you have to love how it’s so cool to little kids.. I think it just sucks when you have to drive to work in it and shovel it… P.S. I LOVE bounce houses- and the greatest thing about being the Auntie is going in there “to get the kid” haha
We totally in winter break mode too – except we’re spending ours with boxes and toys we haven’t seen in ages. I’m coming over tomorrow to play, screw unpacking!
Snow + Kids is always a great time. And an Inflatable Kingdom? Well I think anyone, [including my large 23 year old self, and discounting Lulu] would love to be queen of such a place.
you forgot to mention how we’re going to have the best blogger meet up EVER and rent the inflatable kingdom.
They need to make these for adults. Seriously. Medieval Times does NOT count.
I second Anna’s comment from above
Awwww what a beautiful day you had! I think I want to go to that inflatable kingdom place, it looks like a lot of fun.
I still need to try one of your smoothies in a bowl, what a fantastic and scrumptious idea.
All that snow, what a beautiful way to end your lovely day.
can i come to your blogger meet up at the inflatable kingdom!?
What a fun day for the girls, topped off with snow! I love that pic of LuLu sitting on the couch,
Oh…I remember plenty of those bounce houses when my boys were your kids age! Luckily they get too big for that! Lol
I LOVE that Gigi wears her pink tutu out and about. I’d seriously contemplate matching momma daughter ones!
That snow is beautiful but I don’t know how you stand the cold for so long. We got down to 30 last nigh high of 50 during the day and it was wayyyy to cold for my thin FL blood!!
OMG. seeing the picture of lulu in the cast makes me smile..not in an evil way or anything..but cause she’s so cute! BTW apparently I was with my sister at the inflatable kingdom? (scroll up to one of first pics)
What a fun day! And LOL at Inflatable Kingdom being LA.
Looks like Gigi had the time of her life!
I think that snow is on it’s way to us tomorrow..eek!
Nothing sweeter than seeing kids try to catch snowflakes on their tongues.
And.
They should make bouncy things for grown-ups. I’d be ALL over that.
How fun!! and cute! “Special”, hahahaha I was cracking up! Ya’ll are to much for me.
Gosh I wish it would snow here. My little one would be in heaven. Shes been asking for snow everyday since it hit below 55 degrees!

Seriously, i have never heard of an inflatable kingdom but sounds like a good time for all ages!
Inflatable Kingdom does sound interesting. I would imagine that Hugh Hefner probably refers to his mansion by such a name.
Happy day and awesome bloggie meet up!
I’m ready for our snow to depart, it has hit the annoying stage.
what a fun date! Seriously, Gigi and Lulu are way too cute. I love the tutu over the pants for the date
This is awful, but I laughed with the mention of the Great Trampoline Incident and that adorable picture of casted Lulu. I laughed not because the incident was funny (it was horrific even just reading it), but because that picture just says, “I’m chill. Just sitting on the couch with my shades, my pigtails and my boot. It’s all good.” And her little baby toes. It’s all too cute. Basically, I just love you and your special kids.
What a great day!
I want to go to there! That sounds like a fantastic day. You know how I feel about Sweet Tomatoes. Was there a weight/age limit in the inflatable kingdom?
Actually, they rent it out for corporate events! Kalin, Andrea and I were thinking Portland blogger meetup (especially because there is a McMenamins next door…but I’ll drink iced tea with you…). We should pick a date when you are in town!
I wish there was a bounce house type place in my area…my son would love it.
And all this time I thought the Inflatable Kingdom was in my bra!
Sounds like a great day! Unfortunately, we are all taking our turns this winter break sharing illnesses! Enjoy the snow! It looks beautiful!
Looks like the kids had a great time. I’ve never seen a Sweet Tomatoes around here.
I’m with Anna on this one – will you adopt me? I would LOVE to go bouncing around and then lunch at Sweet Tomatoes! Topping the day off playing in the snow is like icing on the cake, although I can definitely see it from your perspective, too. It makes things look beautiful though!
I hope Pea Daddy gets home soon – for your sake!
P.S. – I promise to send your book back soon now that the holidays are pretty much over and the post office line won’t be out the door. Thank you again so much for lending it to me…
haha oh man, I would have been all over that inflatable playland! Poor Lulu though, I feel her pain too.
And everytime I hear about Sweet Tomatoes all I can think about are your salads that are “business in the front party in the back”…where was the party today, may I ask??
Adorable photos!
Happy Day,
Katie
