No Regrets
My main goal in life is to have as few regrets as possible. Today was no exception.
I thought I would regret not going for a run, but I actually enjoyed getting a killer workout from a hot broad with a killer ankle tat.

If I could do this everyday until our Hawaii trip, maybe I won’t regret that new two piece I plan to buy.
I do regret letting my toddler have coffee.

I think she tore out the springs on her Jumperoo that day.
I didn’t regret having a Smoothie In a Bowl for breakfast, even if I was a little chilly afterward.

- frozen strawberries
- frozen peaches
- frozen banana
- 2 T. hemp protein powder
- 2 t. silken tofu
- ice
- almond milk
- Kashi Go Lean
- Cinnamon Raisin granola
I do regret putting my baby’s hair in a mohawk.

Okay, no I don’t, that was awesome.
I don’t regret in the least neglecting the piled up laundry, the freelance assignments or Christmas shopping to spend one-on-one time with Old Blue Eyes.

I do regret leaving my child unattended with plastic packaging.

I don’t regret spending the afternoon making paper snowmen with the girls,

or photographing each of us with our masterpieces.

Some of us were more willing to be photographed than others.
I do regret casting my first ever presidential vote for this guy.

Probably not the worst mistake I made when I was eighteen, but “I’m going to put on a tutu, jump like a crazy old aunt, and dance around the problem” anyway.
I don’t regret not documenting my playdate with my girlfriend and her two boys, as we had a great time talking about veganism, the names of CARS characters, her Canon REBEL that I lust for and those days of motherhood that we end up hiding from our children in our closets and crying.

I do regret dressing my cat up in a bib before I had kids.

I’m sorry, Maggie.
I really don’t regret not slaving over dinner and pawning off leftover chili on the family instead.

I do regret putting someone’s pigtails in a little too tight.

I don’t regret turning down my friend’s offer to run a 5K with her in the morning, as much as I’d like to, probably not the wisest decision for my lungs or my back.

Somebody was medicated.

Somebody should have been medicated. I’m going to regret posting that.
I did regret watching this as I walked on the treadmill tonight.

Who is Ray J and why would I want his love STD?
I don’t regret ever making the decision to become a mom, and devoting my life to raising healthy, happy and now vegetarian children, even if it means sacrificing a lot of my career goals, social interactions and overall hygiene. I do regret caring too much about the details, about perfection and about unattainable expectations and not always appreciating the little moments along the way.

I wasn’t going to post tonight. I didn’t take many pictures today, didn’t create any recipes and just wasn’t mentally prepared. But I got nostalgic and reflective, and though you may regret it,
I DON’T.

I always say ‘no regrets!’ I hope that one day I put my baby’s hair in a mohawk. Coolest baby EVA.
I don’t regret it either! I love your posts!
GOSH the gilrs are geting big fast. Lulu’s bangs made a huge diff too. LOVED your nostalgic post.
NEVER REGRET IT!
xo
Cute post! That’s so exciting you are going to Hawaii! You won’t regret one bit that two piece you are going to buy
I love this post. You are a great mother and your children are beautiful! I try to not regret anything…like my peanut butter for dessert
i’ve thought it through, and instead of having a baby, you’re going to have one for me, as yours are adorable, and i’m skeptical that josh’s spawn will be quite so cute.
i’ll pay you in kettle corn.
“I don’t regret ever making the decision to become a mom, and devoting my life to raising healthy, happy and now vegetarian children, even if it means sacrificing a lot of my career goals, social interactions and overall hygiene.”
God that’s so well said and succinct and echos EVERYTHING that I feel too about motherhood.
Love that you posted, without recipes, with just your thoughts and musings. Beautiful.
Two piece for Hawaii? Will you be posting pics of you in it? I’m excited to see the big reveal!!!
So cute, I loved reading this!
I love that you get nostalgic, feed your kids vegan gingerbread men, live in Oregon, flat iron your hair, and let your kids wear tutus. I am writing when I decide to have children…actually I’ll just cry in the closet instead. Thanks for being real. Have a good weekend.
You should never regret for a day the awesome family you have. You are an awesome mother and your girls know it…I think Daddy Pea does too
I’m a new reader, and I don’t regret subscribing and beginning to read your posts! This was really cute!
Seriously, when your babies are hormonal teenagers and go stomping off with a big harumph because of some major injustice they think you’ve perpetrated on them, I hope they read this post and realize how lucky they actually are that you are their mother. They are blessed.
NO REGRETS! I love seeing your day to day life and learning how much fun it can be to raise an awesomely vegan family. I really love your blog, thank you so much for sharing so much of yourself with all of us. Keep up the HILARIOUS work!
What a lovely post! I think times of reflection are so important – and work wonders to put everything in to perspective
I NEVER regret you posting. You have the most sweet and funny posts ever.
AMEN to no regrets – love life as it comes
How could you ever regret something so meaningful and purposeful in your life. You truly reflect the purpose of your own exsistance is by your children, and honestly, I beleive that that quality is what motherhood is all about.
Bless you for all of the “non” regretful experiences you have shared. They not only made you who you are today, but will shape your children into even more wonderful women that they will become.
Have a wonderful day!!!
I agree with carbzilla, your kids are blessed! You are the coolest mom ever. Adopt me. You won’t regret it.
oh My GOD..You are superfunny..Nice to know the regrets…
As a new mom, I’m so happy to read this post! It reflects everything I don’t regret about becoming a mommy
Definitely no regrets on my part for reading this post – I loved that you wrote something so meaningful but still managed to intertwine a bit of humor in there. Beautiful pictures of your girls (and you!). Believe me – you’d rock a two piece now…
I wonder if Lulu’s “Here Comes Trouble” t-shirt comes in my size…
I just found your blog – I love it! And your kids are adorable
Seriously, M. Pea! G.H.W. Bush! I can do the math and I just can’t believe what it adds up to! Are you sure it wasn’t G.W. you regret voting for? If not, then you are taking real good care of yourself so no regrets!
You’re right, it wasn’t G.H.W., it was Ross Perot! Can you imagine? Some of the things that came out of his mouth make Sarah Palin sound like a genius!
Ha! Lulu’s shirt is priceless! I’m pretty sure I will need a couple of those when I have kids because if they are anything like me (or like a typical two year old), they will be double trouble
You know, I have never commented on your blog! Not this one and not the last one. I just wanted to say how much I enjoy all of the fun things you do with and for your girls. I am studying up in hopes of being a mom sometime soon
I never regret reading your blog. If I don’t comment yours is one I carve out time for daily!
My mom used to dress me up like a Barbie so don’t worry about the hair. Mine still does it…. 19 years later she loves to do my hair lol
And leftovers rock and totally beat my boxed veggie burger and pretzels (1/2 a bag) I ate lol
MamaPea, thank you for bringing a smile to my day; I enjoy reading your cleverly themed posts. Gigi and Lulu are so fortunate that they have a mother who dedicates so much time and energy to ensure that they are engaged in cheerful activities.
You should really put a disclaimer on your blog, something about it not being your fault if people get crazy baby fever while reading your posts. <3
Ok the picture of GiGi in the plastic box is totally cracking me up!
I admit I feel pretty studly after I workout with Ms. Ankle Tat. One time, she said “I like to see tall girls suffer,” and I was convinced she was watching me through the tube!
Adorable post all around!!
Lovely post
Seriously, your kids are capital-A Adorable
My favorite saying “You can never regret something that once made you smile”. So true.
I’m back on the 30 day shred and wow…I forgot how amazing/torturous it was!!
I love all the old pictures… its really amazing how much the girls have changed and how much they haven’t!
LOVE LOVE LOVE. This post put a huge smile on my face, and it’s still there.
Babies with Mohawks and a Mama with lots of love =
I loved this post!
That picture of Jill made me feel guilty. I need to do No More Trouble Zones more often. That is her best DVD. That + regular walks + yoga = best body ever. True story.
Your girls are rockin’ … the mohawk might be the most fabulous thing I’ve ever seen.
That was beautiful MamaPea
And I’m not just talking about your rabbit-eared husband. I think our society sometimes forgets how valuable and important being a mother and raising happy healthy children truly is. You seem to be doing a wonderful job and have been an inspiration to me and I’m sure many other women who know you and read your blog.
P.S. Ain’t no shame in dressing your cat up in a bib… I’m just saying
If I ever have a baby, its hair will most definitely go in a mohawk at some point!
I haven’t commented before but I love your blog! So clever and cute!
Ray J is Brandy’s (singer from the 90s) brother. He was also Kim Kardashian’s co-star in her infamous sex tape. I seriously can’t believe he has a show!! (I can’t wait to watch it:) ).
Have I ever told you how witty and clever and wonderful you are? I have?
Oh well. I’m telling you again. And I don’t regret it.
Hope you’re having a great weekend!!!
Love the baby mohawk. Seriously.
your kids are far too cute…i want to steal them, and i’m not a fan of kids. hahahaha.
You are such a yummy mummy. I am glad you chose to post today as I look forward to them so
Your daughters are so adorable.
Heather said it. Your blog could cause baby fever for the ladies without children. You make it look so fun and easy. Your girls are dolls and you all crack me up all the time. Love Maggie’s bib btw.
You are such an inspiration to me in so many ways: as a writer, food lover, vegan, and mom. I’m all of those except the last one which I hope to be someday and I’m always trying to improve the rest. It helps to have such great women to look up to. Thanks Mama Pea for sharing your life with us
I just found your blog and it’s wonderful! I’m fairly new to the (somewhat) vegan lifestyle as of September and your blog is very inspiring. I linked your page on my blog and will be sure to follow
BTW two very cute kiddies and you look amazing!!
aww Mama Pea don’t be so modest!!! You are a super hot MILF if I’ve ever seen one and you could totally rock a new two-piece
PS now that Lulu’s hair is longer, you could use some gel and get like a super huge mohawk….Just sayin, it might be cool. She might even like it
I don’t regret taking the time to read this post before I head off to bed, I loved it! You’re great.
Thanks for taking the time to be reflective for all of us to read and enjoy!
Love that you made such a heartwarming post even when you thought you had no material. It’s like a good chef with no recipe…you are a wonderful writer!
Always enjoy the “flashback” pics of the girls…never fail to make me smile!
Your girls are the CUTEST. Seriously, I just adore this reminiscent post!
And i spyy SESAME STICKS! Love. And a mug full of chili that i’d happily devour!
