So Sneaky
I’m sneaking in a post while Daddy gives the girls their baths. Last night, Lulu “dropped some kids off in the pool,” so I don’t anticipate I’m missing much.
Let me just sneak in a quick “Happy Birthday Mimi” in case she happens to read the blog today.

Love you, Mommy!
This morning, after a quick run, I snuck in some upper body resistance training.

She’s about thirty pounds, so it was actually a pretty good workout. Now if I could just teach her to sing “Eye of the Tiger” to me instead of giggling, I’d be all set.
We were on carpooling duty today, so I snuck some snacks in the car for us all.

The girls love” Ants on a Log.”

Well, Lulu loves “Ants on a” but not so much the “Log.” She’d clear out the raisins and peanut butter and then say, “Mama, I don’t like this one.”

I was hungry, but not THAT hungry.
I snuck a quick picture of a sign I found pretty amusing.

“Beaver Snuggie?” Yes, please!
I snuck in a stop at the store where two of these holiday teas just snuck in my cart.

I used it as an opportunity to sneak a cookie.

Actually, this is a Cranberry Orange Nut Biscotti. I’ll sneak you the recipe.
Cranberry Orange Nut Biscotti
- 1/2 c. unbleached all purpose flour
- 1/2 c. whole wheat pastry flour
- 1/4 c. sugar or stevia (I used NuNaturals Baking Blend)
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 T. Earth Balance margarine
- 1 “flax egg” (1 T. ground flax mixed with 3 T. water)
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp. orange extract
- 2 T. orange juice
- 2 T. chopped almonds
- 2 T. dried cranberries
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine dry ingredients. Cut in the margarine until mixture has a coarse texture. Stir in the flax egg, orange juice and extracts. Fold in almonds and cranberries.
Shape dough into a 9 x2 log. Coat a baking sheet with cooking spray and place log on sheet (can I say “log” a few more times in this post?). Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
Cool log (why yes, yes, I can) for 10 minutes and then cut into 1/2 inch slices using a serrated knive. Place the slices back on the cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes. Turn slices over and return to oven for 10 additional minutes or until dry and crisp. Let cool completely. Makes approximately 10 biscotti.

I like to eat one every time I have a cup of tea. I had six cups of tea today.
Want me to sneak you into the hottest runway show in the fashion world today?

Victoria’s Secret has nothing on her.
Did you see hula hooping like this on last night’s show? I think not (or at least I hope not…I don’t know, I didn’t watch it).

I got pretty sneaky with tonight’s dinner too.

I snuck 1/2 c. of red lentils into a jar of spaghetti sauce.

Had I not said anything, no one would have known they were there. I confessed though, because I didn’t want Daddy chasing my car and knocking my back window out with a golf club tomorrow after he reads the blog.
Somehow someone has snuck off with my camera…

I’m going to get the girls to bed and then sneak in back-to-back episodes of Glee and Top Chef off of the DVR, and who knows there may even be time to sneak in a Beaver Snuggie.

You are too cute. I want a Beaver Snuggie too!!! Suddenly, my Pink Snuggie just isn’t good enough anymore.
Boo.
josh was reading this with me…
when it got to the dress up and hula hoop he asked “is this what happens when you have kids?”
then i showed him at the top the comment about lulu and the bath, and showed him kids would be even MORE fun.
Sooo your biscotti looks totally exciting. Your lentils look like ground beef and your squash strings look like angel hair pasta. Yup, seriously impressed.
Thanks for sneaking us the lowdown on your day! And I have to say that even though I’m well past my one-digit years, I’m still not over ants on a log! =D
I have that tea! I should start drinking it to get into the holiday spirit of things.
Oh Mama Pea, have I told you lately how much I love ya?
And um yeah, I just found your cinnamon roll recipe.
*Runs to kitchen*
(Seriously, I’m so making these!!)
OMG – that’s your MOM? Was she 10 years old when she had you?
The weirdest part is she looks like ME (around the eyes especially). On a good day, for sure.
I even brought the laptop to my husband and asked “Who does that woman in the middle look like?” and he said “You.” Bizarreness.
Anyway, Happy Birthday to my doppleganger!
(PS. We might be buying a Husky snuggie or two for gifts this year. Ain’t no shame.)
I’m with Lulu. Love the ants and PB. Not a log fan. However, I do love my Snuggie.
Happy B-day to your mama Mama Pea!
What a great post! I love the sound of those holiday teas, I wish we could get them here because I think I would be having at least 6 cups a day, too!
Yay for fashion shows and for lentils hidden in pasta sauce! Great idea, bet it tastes delicious.
Your girls are such characters! Ants on a log were and still are a favorite snack of mine… but like Lulu, logs were not my favorite. Thank goodness I’ve grown to love the snack in its entirety
The biscotti should be wrapped up and sold at some fancy bakery, it looks that good.
I wasn’t so discreet about my addition though.. but the family ate it!
Hey, lentils in pasta sauce are making their rounds
Have a great night.
Umm beaver snuggie? I’m doubled over laughing and hoping I’m not the only one who thought it was a dirty joke
If you really got this post off in the time it takes to do bathtime, you’re good. And fast!
Love the Walgreens sign. Classic.
The red lentils in the sauce. Sneaky and awesome!
And then of course the biscotti and the tea….yummy!
Hope you’re feeling healthy and awesome
omg you make me laugh!! love the Cheetah Woods reference!!
So sneaky you are!
Woot~! You found the teas! They’re not that popular here for some reason so I have a hard time finding them. In fact, I was so worried you wouldn’t find the gingerbread that I mailed you a few teabags today! (Nerd, I know). And you know I started my day with a G-Money latte.
Love ya!
You have no idea just how many people on campus own beaver snuggies, they are EVERYWHERE.
Glee was a pretty good on tonight, and I’m will Lulu on the “Ants on a…”
I really hope I’m not the only one who walks away from this post singing “It’s lo-og! It’s lo-og! It’s big, it’s heavy, it’s wood…” Ren & Stimpy? Anyone? I’m not dating myself by referencing that, I hope…
Clearly the jet lag is messing with me. Hope you’re feeling better!
I like your fashion show better.
Happy Birthday to your mama…now I see where you get your looks from!
That biscotti recipe will be gracing my lips VERY VERY soon! Yum that looks good. Are you saying it’s still good for me if I eat 6 a day? I need to know these things.
Given my distaste for celery, I would do the same thing Lulu did! PB & raisins… mmmmm.
I’ve been looking for the Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride tea, but to no avail. I drank tons of it last holiday season and can’t wait to see it on store shelves. The biscotti sound like the perfect accompaniment!
THATS what I’m doing with my lentils. I have about a metric shitton of them in my pantry, and am out of ideas.
Lulu just cracks me up
Ha! “beaver snuggie” too funny!
I’m not looking forward to the day my daughter “drops some kids in the pool”…. I know its coming
I had spaghetti squash with white beans in my sauce last night. Of course, no one else in my family ate that, but that just means more for me
Beaver Snuggie, okay I can see that, but what in the world is up with the Duck? That one goes beyond me. lol.
I find that lifting small living creatures make a fantastic strength workout. I use my 10 lb Chiuauia to a quick get ripped session every now and then. Hey, we are just being resourceful right?!?
Hope you are feeling better darling. Take care.
Red Lentils are the easiest to hide. I miss my spaghetti squash! Must buy more.
Hope your feeling better.
And Lulu looks like Heidi Klum with that outfit
We definitely have Badger snuggies here
I made myself ants on a log the other day because I’m cool like that, and hubby had never heard them be called ants on a log before! I thought that was the universal name for them?
All over the duck snuggie. A duggie maybe?
I saw an ad for dog Snuggies, but have yet to see the beaver (that’s what HE said.) As for the tea, I was disappointed with the Gingerbread (not a shock, as I’m not a big fan of gingerbread, so what did I expect?) but actually liked the Sugar Cookie. Imagine my surprise when it actually tasted like a sugar cookie! Go figure…
Still, I would rather have that pasta/salad dinner over a cookie any day. Looks delish…and completely worthy of a hula hoop solo performance.
Glee was soo good! Loved the fashion show!!
hahaha! looks like lulu is stepping up her fashion game.
I love that gingerbread tea! So good.
And I love that Lulu eats everything but the log
that’s hilarious.
Happy Birthday Mimi!
Excuse me, I’m off to demand some beaver snuggie.
Lulu’s got the trick down with the celery sticks! It’s all about the PB and raisins! I only caught like 5 minutes of Glee last night (when he found out about the pregnancy) – um, intense.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIMI!!!
I need to track down those teas!
Check out my blog – new giveaway and workout songs!

Fabulous post! The biscotti sound wonderful and now I’m totally inspired to get some extra tea drinking in
Gleeeeee! I’m obsessed with that show as of late
Lulu looks gorgeous in her fashion show getup! I bet that white fans and leis will be so in next season
I know I always sap all over your comments section, but I have to say it again – you make me want to have children some day. And that’s a big thing considering I don’t connect with kids whatsoever.
I also want to sneak vegetables into sauces very soon.
You know, for some reason biscotti are the one thing that I have no luck with. Ever. I know they’re suppose to be crunchy, but mine are more like rocks. Tea wouldn’t even soften them up!! Hehe!
I snuck quinoa into our soup last night and the fam just thought it was noodles. HA!
Speaking of sneaky…those Celestial Seasonings people have been hiding the Sugar Cookie Sleighride tea from me! Our local stores carry the other four Christmas blends but not that one. It’s killing me. I want it!!!
my store is now OUT of those teas….and I am out of Candy Cane Lane…which turned out to be my all time fav!
LOVE BISCOTTI’S….MUST TRY making them!
and I did “JJ” lifts last night…the best strength training EVER!!!
Thank you for sharing another awesome recipe! They are piling up on me, I’d better get started
mmmm just got Dreana’s cookbook and am planning on sneaking some red lentils myself into pasta sauce! Yum.
I came across your blog recently and just wanted to say hi! Your posts always make me laugh, and your girls are so cute! I LOVE sugar cookie sleigh ride too. According to their website, Dollar Generals carry it, but I’ve checked two and had no luck
Where did you get yours? Anyway, hope you don’t mind if I add you to my blog roll. Have a good day!
Hi Amanda! I got my tea at Fred Meyer, which is a local version of Kroger. I bought two boxes of the sugar cookie kind, also my fave!
so my last post was definitely a shout out to your sticky sitch. and by sticky i mean ridiculous. but seeing everyone elses comments about their own family issues made me realize even MORE how lucky i am. im so sorry. how you do it, ill never know. crazy.
love the snobby joe marinara.
good thing you came clean about the ingreds – i can tell you learned from that whole sneaky chef drama with seinfeld’s wife. deceptively delicious? plagiarism 101.
Happy Bday Mama Pea Mama! She looks wonderful!
Ducks or Beavers Snuggie? lol Mmm Beavers n Ducks! (Billy Bob Thorton, anyone?)
Great upper body strength training today, btw! I have got to get me some of those barbells! lol
Thanks for the biscotti recipe! And the idea of sneaking lentils in tomato sauce!
i’ve said it once, i’ll say it a million times. your family is the most beautiful family in the world!
if you see the celestial seasonings “candy cane lane” tea – GET IT! you won’t regret it.
Happy Birthday, Mimi Pea!
Love the impromptu weight lifting. I have heard that toting toddlers in general is great arm work
I want one of your spaghetti dinners! If I fly up to Oregon, will you make me one?!
Mimi Pea? I love it!!! And yes, please come for dinner anytime!
I am cracking up over that sign and the very last sentence of this post…I can’t help it – I have the mind and humor of a 15 year old boy.
I definitely need to pick up some of those teas…’tis the season!
I love the idea of sneaking some lentils into the spaghetti sauce, but I think I love the picture of Lulu in her ensemble even more. I would have watched the VS show had there been hula hooping and those kinds of outfits going on!
I hope you’re feeling better!
Your mom and daughters look truly stunning in the first photo; the gorgeous background reflects their high spirits. I wish her a cheerful birthday!
Mama Pea, thank you. I feel like complete dung today and I knew that when I read this post, my spirits would be lifted.
I laughed for a solid two minutes about the Beaver Snuggie.
No one at the VS show hula-hooped, but you’re giving them ideas. Not good.
I hope you’re framing that last picture (Christmas present…). Absolutely adorable.
Your daughters look so cute!
I have been drinking cups of the holiday tea like mad, i like the gingerbread one best.
I actually think im about to polish a new box that i bought two weeks ago!
Aw your Thanksgiving looked fab, and way to evade the heavy lifting with photography duty (slash back injury status) on the Christmas tree hunt ;D Your tree is beautiful, helllz ya for the Noble Fir, ew Douglas Fir never….Hm never knew I was so passionate about my tree preferences. The girls’ advent calendars remind me of Christmas with my dad
That was literally #1 priority every morning. Hope you are feeling better Mama!!! xo
I just realized that I am a CLASS A stalker! I come on here every morning thinking, “Wonder what she blogged about last night… can’t wait to see the pics.” And then I never comment! Boooo. I’ll try to get better.
What is the spaghetti sauce on? Looks like sauerkraut, not pasta!
It’s spaghetti squash. And stalk away, I welcome it!
LMAO. Duck the Beaver Snuggie!!
that last picture of daddy pea and gigi is ADORABLE.
biscotti rocks my world. almost as much as lulu’s fashionista outfit. too. dayum. cute.
have a lovely day mama pea – and thanks for your comment on my last post, tis’ made me smile
ha! duck and beaver snuggie..niiiiice…The pics are way too funny! ha!! Thanks for the recipe!
bahahahaha re the golf club comment. Without failure you have ended my day in hysterics. Totally dig your blog (still!!!!) Was that spaghetti squash under the lentil sauce? I LOVE spaghetti squash
Aw, Happy Birthday to Mimi!
I’m the same way with ants on a log! I really hate raw celery :/
But I LOVE your biscotti recipe! I’ve never made any myself but I just might have to asfter seeing this goodness!
YAHOO for sugar cookie sleigh ride! I drink 6 cups a day even without the promise of a cookie. Now I want a cookie though.
Lentils in red sauce? Freaking genius Pea. GENIUS!
“…dropped some kids off in the pool”
LOL
Happy birthday Grandmama pea!
I love being sneaky with healthy food. I’m making tempeh sloppy joes in a few weeks and not telling Hunni
Just found your blog and am really enjoying it! You have me laughing out loud! I’m not a mom yet, but one day I hope to lead by example, just the way you are doing. Looking forward to reading more!
I think I might have to add the Beaver Snuggie to my Christmas list…just because
What a great biscotti recipe!
So I have to ask….where are the holes in a beaver snuggie????
Sorry!
