Girls Girls Girls!

It was just the girls and me today.  ALL DAY LONG.

It was like if Robert Pattinson did a one man show of The Vagina Monologues at a national Alpha Phi convention.

It was like if the Jonas Brothers held a complimentary concert in Central Park and were handing out free Bruno Magli stilettos.

It was like the Healthy Living Summit.

Estrogen overload.

I savored the only 20 minutes I had to myself all day by doing intervals on the treadmill.

We then officially started the day with a talent show.

I know upon watching this video you will think, “Did Mama Pea huff paint thinner when she was pregnant, because those girls can’t jump!”  You will also think, “I thought she said it was just girls all day, why is there a muppet impersonating Bea Arthur acting as emcee?”  Don’t worry, that’s just me and I assure you, the only thing my children were affected by in utero was my lack of coordination.

We are trying to pitch a variety hour show to NBC.  It’d be better than “America’s Got Talent,” but sadly, no Hoff.

I had a very girly breakfast: a pretty pink Smoothie in a Bowl.

  • frozen strawberries
  • frozen mango
  • frozen pineapple
  • banana
  • almond milk
  • Kashi Go Lean
  • Pumpkin Spice Granola
  • cinnamon

After breakfast, Gigi started a  lemonade stand with “Tyrone,” her imaginary little brother from Nigeria.

It’s to the point where people ask Gigi in the store if Lulu is her little sister, and she responds, “Yes, and I have a little brother named Tyrone, he’s from Nigeria,” as I’m frantically shaking my head and mouthing “no” in the background.  Everyone knows Tyrone’s from Algeria.  I’m fairly sure that sign says “Lemonade for Sale” in Algerian.

Want to see why I don’t shower/wash my hair/use the bathroom during the day?

That says “Yoga Mat for Sale” in Lulu.  I should be grateful, she may just be trying to raise money for the Vita Mix that I didn’t buy for the one week they were at Costco.  My $52 of profit on eBay didn’t quite cover it.  I punished Lulu by not taking her picture for the majority of the day.

We ran some errands and came home just in time for a girlie lunch: soup and salad.

With my cup of cashew carrot ginger soup, my salad had:

  • spinach
  • carrots
  • pickles
  • broccoli
  • almonds
  • Trader Joe’s Creamy Red Pepper Hummus

Then we proved that even girls can have a big package.  Or two.

First, a gift from NuNaturals for showing my appreciation for their products in some recent recipes.

She’s got “Barker’s Beauty” written all over her.

She’s got “Frank Lloyd Wright” written all over her.  Mama always said, “Girls can do ANYTHING!”

Our second package was from Soda Stream, who generously sent us a home soda maker.  Pea Daddy doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke, doesn’t have a porn collection labelled “Xmas Ornaments” under his bed, but he does enjoy a good root beer.  Now he can make his own.

I’ll do a full review when  I can get a boy to put it together for a little old, simple minded girl like me.

The girls and I made some soup for some sick friends, and then had some more girl time before dinner.

We pretended we were at Whole Foods.

Because her groceries cost so much, Gigi had to hock her purse and carry her money elsewhere.

At least orange is hot this season.

Then my sassy shopper had a little confrontation with the checker.

“Oh that’s not chicken,” she explained.  “That’s a Chick’n Nugget.”

I thought she was going to tell me she was holding it for Tyrone.

After we spent our Whole Paycheck, we did what all girls do after a hard day of shopping.

We tapdanced on a bread board in our living room.

Jazz hands!

Where was Lulu this whole time, you ask?

“I go find Daddy.”

Daddy was having dinner with two other couples at Cheesecake Factory.  I took one for the team, since we couldn’t find a babysitter and chasing a tapdancing/architect/spokesmodel and her yoga mat grafitti-loving sister around a grown- up restaurant isn’t really my idea of fun.  Tyrone also has a monopoly on child care and has jacked up his hourly rate to make him completely unaffordable.

After rounding up the troops, we sat down to dinner.

I restocked my tahini today, so I put use of it in my favorite dressing, which I drizzled over carrots, broccoli, almonds and meatless meatballs.

I had some sweet potato cheetah girls on the side.

We had one more activity up our sleeve after dinner.  Gigi grabbed the soda maker box, got some assistance from Lulu and they hummed a merry tune as they got to work.

What is that?  Tap shoes?  A tiara?  Why, it’s a princess snowman, of course!

Silly girls.

One last silly girl I must tell you about is my darling friend, Susan.

She was my maid of honor, my college basketball teammate, and just an incredible person to know…AND she’s started a blog.  I just love her, and I bet you will too.

Also a belated “Happy Birthday” to Gina and Justine.  Love you, ladies!

Oh my gosh, I need some testosterone up in here.  Plus, I need to shower/wash my hair/use the bathroom.  Preferrably, not all at the same time.

  1. Diana says:

Wow, I love that last picture, you’re so beautiful!
    Ah, Gigi doing ballet… adorable.

  2. Nae says:

Seriously. Your girls are just TOO cute. Man I miss lil kids ;)

  3. Shelby says:

I love getting packages in the mail! Makes me so happy :)

I need to restock my tahini too, I miss that dressing. It’s so delicious!

  4. I’ve seen those soda makers around and really wanted to try one! I can;t wait to read your review. I love the video, but the tap dancing is the best!

  5. Lauren says:

Oh my! What a truly girly day! Now tonight, tell your hubby it’s his turn to stay home with the girls and I think a night surrounded by men is just what you need! (Hmmm, gay bar maybe?! LoL…JUST KIDDING!!! )

Hope you have a great day beautiful lady!

  6. Alison says:

Clearly I need to blog more about how much seltzer I drink because I can’t believe I don’t have one of these machines in my seltzer buying paws yet! I need more big packages in my life. (Clicking submit before the man walks in and reads this over my shoulder!)

  7. Holly says:

mama pea…you seriously crack me up like no other. i literally laughed out loud multiple times during this post…more specifically at gigi’s talents, tyrone the nigerian imaginary friend, your writing and your friggin hilariousness.

you keep me on my toes mama!

  8. Jessie says:

Danica (of Danica’s Daily) just got a SodaStream too. I am so jealous!

  9. Your day sounds like a day at camp… and mega kudos to you for handling it so well!!! Happy Friday!!! Love you!

  10. Aisha says:

Aww they are so adorable, I always wonder how little kids have so much energy, I feel jealous.
Your breakfast looks so girly and cute and yum, and your salad looks gorgeous as always.
    Have a good day!

  11. Katie says:

LOL I can’t jump either! And I love the creativeness of using the bread board to get the tap dancing noise to its loudest. I’m sure mommy’s ears weren’t hurting ;)

:P Things kids will say in a store to embarrass you! At least their girls eventually it will stop boys never stop putting their foot in their mouth.

  12. I love how you keep the girls busy with their days. Also, love the fact your husband gets a day out while you hold a plastic chicken leg.

  13. katherine says:

Look at that little tap dancer!! So cute!

  14. Ooh! I do love the girly pink breakfast! It just looks like you are the MOST fun mom! I can’t wait until I am able to have children and play like that. I mean, I know it’s extremely hard work and takes a LOT of energy to keep up with them all day, but how fulfilling! I posted on your spiced chickpeas the other day–scrumptious! I’m waiting on that Rueben salad ;) xoxo

  15. Tapdancing on a breadboard? How clever!
Coloring your pink yoga mat? Not so clever. So sorry…I woulda been ummm more than a little ticked!

I’ve been working with Ron on some recipes too, that’s awesome. I most be clueless but I cant find mine or yours on their website, but people have told me and I’ve seen pics that when they get their shipments of stevia, that the recipes have been enclosed.

Enjoy your day, I am off to interview. At an 8am class on the other side of the world. Traffic. Bye…

  16. That video is adorable!! Love it.

Your poor yoga mat :( I can’t believe how calm you sound about it! I guess it will still serve its purpose, no?
Gigi is great – tap dancing on a cutting board, bahaha

  17. Katy says:

Bruno Maglis? No, you’re mistaken. There were Jimmy Choos, but no Maglis.

Actually, come to think of it…I wonder if there could be a market for designer running shoes? Hmmm…

The girls are adorable. As always. And I’m jealous of your package. As always. (TWSS? No, too forced. I’ll do better next time.)

  18. Marianne says:

Loved the video….Gigi has more dance skills than I do!! You should see me try to do a step class. Good tap floor by the way, perfect use for a cutting board ;-)
I didn’t wind up with a vitamix from costco either, couldn’t sell enough blood plasma! Ha!

  19. Rose says:

I love the tap dancing on a bread board idea. :)

  20. K says:

Oh my gosh, they are so stinkin’ cute! I can’t get over the jump roping hahah!

I may have to have some cheetahs tonight just for that link. My mom looked at my hands the other day and went, “have you been eating carrots again!?” Apparently my Lindsay Lohan tan is a little too excessive.

  21. kalin says:

when we have our healthyish summit, we’ll hold it at blazer village. that way greg and joel will keep the estrogen down…

  22. susan says:

i just love you… did i tell you i came across that blast from the past photo the other day!?!?!

that was a fun day =)

next time i come over for dinner, can i meet tyrone???

  23. brandi says:

goodness, why are they so cute? That video is awesome – I love the dancing.

    Happy Friday!

  24. You crack me up.
Tyrone… ahahaha. Your girls are too cute for words.

  25. Evan Thomas says:

The people at NuNaturals are always so sweet and make such great products! Can’t wait to hear how the soda stream is. I don’t drink soda but I’ve heard you can make your own seltzer which I’d be all over

  26. A new blog to read?! Hooray! I totally understand the need for some male influence. I feel that way a lot. ;)

  27. Your girls are pure talent, MP ;) Alright, so they hasn’t perfected jump roping yet, but both of them request hummus, broccoli, and chik’n nuggets, so I’ll give ‘em a break ;)

SWEET about the soda machine. Pea Daddy deserves it :)

  28. Ok, sorry, I didn’t proof read. “So they haven’t…”

  29. Natalie says:

Mama Pea, you are freakin’ hilarious!

  30. Such a nice picture of you and your friend. I checked out her blog :)

  31. Aw a girls day. Looks like a blast. And I love the chik’n comment. So perfect for your girls :-)

Off to check out your friend’s blog :-)

  32. skinnyrunner says:

GIRL POWER!! you make me almost want to have kids. but im afraid i’d have boys who’d still want to have an “all girls, all pink, all day” day. hmmmm

  33. I want to come over and meet Tyrone.

  34. This must be my favorite post. I was reading it outloud to the bf and he keeps going, “HOW do you know this person?” and I’m like, “um, I don’t. But wait, listen to this part!” I want a guest post from Tyrone.

  35. Hi! Happy Friday!
Oh my goodness, when Gigi says, “I did it! I’m learning!” on that video I just about died.
I love NuNaturals myself, they just sent me a box of goodies to try, and so now I’m all over my head thinking of stevia recipes.
That didn’t really make sense. Whatever. At least I put all necessary punctuation in its place.

  36. Amber says:

how do you come up with these posts?? they are amazing! It’s not possible for me to love your blog anymore then I do!

  37. Deirdre says:

Okay seriously the Tyrone thing made me LOL @ work to the point my co-worker thought it was some funny E-mail I received that I wasn’t sharing. Also the name Tyrone makes me think about that Erykah Badu song.

  38. I still need to try that dressing recipe…it sounds and looks SO GOOD!

Love love love the video! They make me smile so big! :D

  39. Sana says:

    Hehehe love the talent showw!

  40. Justine says:

Ugh! Sorry I am late to the post. Thanks so much for the bday shout out :)

Was watching the video of the girls and my little one got jealous and started dancing around the room saying “my ballets better isn’t it momma?”. She would die if I had another child!

Totally digging the princess snowman :) . I am also super jealous of that machine! I am obsessed with all things carbonated. I love just adding stevia and lemon or lime to carbonated water. YUM! Party in my mouth!

    ~Justine

  41. I am loving the Chick’n Nugget comment from Gigi. Oh and Snuffy wrote a note on our rocking chair the other day with long-wear lipcolor…sigh.

  42. Jo says:

You have a beautiful family. I enjoy the blog a lot.

  43. I forgot to tell you!!!
I finally got around to editing my blogroll, and you are now on it.
Thanks for saying I remind you of a 1950′s girl, you made my day! Grandma would be so proud!!!
On a side note, one of the girls at the farmer’s market today told me I remind her of Jenna Bush; something that would also make grandma very proud.
Hope you are having a great weekend, my love!
And yes, I accept your marriage proposal. It would be my honor to be half of Mrs. and Mrs. Pea, I’m sure The Boyfriend won’t mind a bit.

  44. gina (fitnessista) says:

thank you for the bday wish :D
love the talent show- i used to tap dance on a bread board back in the day ;)
hope you have a great weekend!

  45. Score on the NuNaturals as well as the soda maker. Can’t wait to see what you make as I love ANYTHING carbonated.

Have fun with Tyrone all weekend. Hope he has plenty of swim trunks to keep up with his sisters’ bathing suit collection. ;)

  46. elise says:

wow. your girls have some serrrrrious talent. you could easily take this show on the road. watch out lohan parents, mama and papa pea are the new stage parents in town :) haha. they are so freakin cute! love the hair. i am currently rocking a similar ‘do…

  47. Carrie says:

Oh Tyrone, what a beautiful addition you make to the stunningly cute Mama Pea family… ;)

The girls dancing in that video could qualify as instant therapy! It should be simulcast all over the US… :)

  48. Shelley says:

I just found your blog within the last couple of weeks and you are keeping me very entertained! Love all of your great recipes. Not sure where you live but here in Portland, OR the beloved Vitamix is at Costco for the week and I think I’ve talked my husband into letting me spend insane amounts of money on a blender.

  49. you let your child tapdance on a bread board???

you so just won the most awesome mom award. and i think you’d better start calling gigi ginger, because that girl’s got MOVES.

  50. Kath says:

I don’t know where you find the energy!!

    Love the video.

    And the tapping!

  51. Cindy says:

JJ and I had to watch the girls dance and jump rope twice!
    I laughed…he laughed…

    good times Mama!

  52. Oh my gosh, I am in love with the jump rope video! Girl’s got talent. And you sound nothing like Bea Arthur!

Aww I’d love to stay at home with my mom all day and have talent shows, tap, pretend to shop at Whole Foods (OK, maybe I’d make her actually go with me). This melts my heart :)

Oooh I need cheetahs! Thanks for the reminder!

Just caught up on your “hardly working” post, and it’s fabulous. LOVE YOU!

  53. Gliding Calm says:
